1962 Expansion team that has never won a World Series
willpie Jun 09 2005 07:55 PM |
You gotta love that David Wright.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 08:07 PM |
Glavine cruises through the fourth on a pop-up and two Ks.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 08:15 PM |
Mr. Wright drives in Beltran with a single to LC. 2-1 Metsies.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 08:39 PM |
Glavine continues to cruise. Pettite rolling along as well. 2-1 Mets, end of 5.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 08:55 PM |
A scoreless sixth ends with Floyd striking out. Still 2-1 Mets.
cooby Jun 09 2005 08:56 PM |
No, you're doing great!
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 08:57 PM |
A pity post from cooby. I'm blushing.
cooby Jun 09 2005 08:58 PM |
I can't even watch the game, you are indispensable.
seawolf17 Jun 09 2005 08:58 PM |
Go, one-man IGT!
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:04 PM |
amen to that, i don't need some b**** dragging me around shopping.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:05 PM |
Lane doubles and reaches third on some Beltran hilarity. Reyes saves the day with a a nice snag of a liner with the infield in, but Ausmus doubles down the line in right to tie it.
holychicken Jun 09 2005 09:11 PM |
People were booing matsui when that ball glanced off glavine's leg because, after starting off to his right, he had to go back to his left and didn't field it cleanly. . . the runner would have scored easily whether he got it or not. . . but the dumbass fans had to boo him anyway.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:12 PM |
Now that he's in a trade rumor for Fonzie they probably smell blood
seawolf17 Jun 09 2005 09:14 PM |
This team should probably consider scoring some more runs. Someone needs to wake up the bats (the 12-run outburst the other day notwithstanding)...
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:15 PM |
The Kazbooers are clearly fools. I didn't see last night's game at all, so I don't know how they treated him. Getting on three times probably wasn't enough for them.
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:20 PM |
I didn't hear that rumor, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we want the fonz back!!!!! Fonzie is one of those guys like David Wright, Derek Bell, & Turk Wendell that Met fans just love too much to boo.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:21 PM |
Booing Fonzie would be like booing a squirrel
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:23 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 09 2005 09:24 PM |
Yes, but playing Fonzie every day at 2B would be nuts.
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:23 PM |
did Matsui really get HBP? i couldn't tell.
holychicken Jun 09 2005 09:24 PM |
I have no problem booing Squirrels. Squirrels and chickens are sworn enemies because a squirrel spilled my beer one time.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:24 PM |
Oh ho! Very cute
holychicken Jun 09 2005 09:25 PM |
BTW, did they boo kaz for getting hit by a pitch?
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:25 PM |
It looks like it caught him on the bottom or side of the foot. It definitely changed direction.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:26 PM |
lol, holychicken, you must tell us that story
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:28 PM |
Reyes goes 6-3. Kaz to third, 2 out, Cameron up.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:29 PM |
Cameron with an infield single to tie it up.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:30 PM |
Yay!
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:30 PM |
way to go cameron!
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:31 PM |
All this small ball against our old buddy Dan "18" Wheeler.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:35 PM |
Looper in to start the ninth.
holychicken Jun 09 2005 09:35 PM |
BOOO kaz! You scored! BOOO!!!
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 09:36 PM 9th inning |
Loopy in to face 5-6-7 in the order:

Whoops, I was laughing so hard I forgot to say something.... Part 1) You're prolly right Part 2) You need one of those little squirrel feeders that they have to lift up the lid to get out a peanut...
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 09:39 PM |
Ensberg: GO 1-3
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:39 PM |
Looper restores order, and it's Floyd, Wright and Woody Woodwoody for the win.
holychicken Jun 09 2005 09:40 PM |
I'll get them that feeder ONLY if it feeds them a knuckle sandwich or an electrode between the eyes.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:41 PM |
Nah, it's really quite charming.
holychicken Jun 09 2005 09:43 PM |
Actually, this was at my parents' house in house in westchester, not up in my student/real ghetto. Although, I did see a squirrel with a full bagel in it's mouth up here. That, I have to admit, was pretty cute.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:44 PM |
Floyd walks, and my daughter begins giggling as Wright steps to the plate.
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:45 PM |
congrats, you are now my sig quote.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:46 PM |

That sounds like me in my Lee Mazzilli days
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:47 PM |
Only without the Toni Tennille haircut.
cooby Jun 09 2005 09:47 PM |
Oh, yes I did
holychicken Jun 09 2005 09:49 PM |
nice. UU is pitching for philly right now. . .top of the ninth with a 4 run lead. They wasted no time.
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:51 PM |
polanco is essentially a younger (i think?) miguel cairo. if they got urbina for that its a good move and i wish we could have done the same.
Rockin' Doc Jun 09 2005 09:52 PM |
Fonzie was one of my favorite Mets during his tenure with the team, but I don't really want him back. Wright should be the third baseman for many years to come at Shea. Fonzie at second wouldn't be pretty at this point in his career.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:53 PM |
Done what? Traded Cairo for Urbina?
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:54 PM |
funny i've always thought of 3B as a much harder position. i know i can handle 2B with no problem but i embarass myself at 3B (longer throws, generally sharper hit balls.)
Nymr83 Jun 09 2005 09:55 PM |
well no, but a player of similiar value to polanco/cairo....Valent maybe?
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:55 PM |
Bill James' Defensive Spectrum (from easiest to hardest)
Edgy DC Jun 09 2005 09:56 PM |
Not much left on the bench for the Mets if this is a war of attrition. Can either Piazza or Mientkiewicz hit?
Rockin' Doc Jun 09 2005 09:57 PM |
Third base is more about reflexes and arm strenghth. Second base is more about range and mobility. At this point in his career, I expect the Alfonzo's range at second base would be pretty limited.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 09:57 PM |
Floyd makes Lamb lie down (near) Broadway -- and we go to the 10th.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 09:57 PM |
Lamb lines one into the corner with two out, and a fine throw by Floyd, combined with a nice tag by Kaz nails him at second.
Edgy DC Jun 09 2005 09:58 PM |
Good throw.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 10:00 PM |
All right, let's kick this Springer guy's ass!!!!
Rockin' Doc Jun 09 2005 10:00 PM |
Seems like Floyd has been doing a pretty good job defensively this year. I'm so glad the Mets weren't able to move him in a trade this off season.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 10:02 PM |
That was, in fact, Cliffy's league leading 8th OF assist.
Rockin' Doc Jun 09 2005 10:07 PM |
Generally, the best arms (Vlad, Ichiro, et al) get fewer opportunities for assists because runners seldom challenge them. I guess people don't respect Floyd's arm, but he's been doing a great job for the Mets this year.
holychicken Jun 09 2005 10:09 PM |
they respected it that time. . .
Edgy DC Jun 09 2005 10:09 PM |
Vizcaino holding at first there was a pretty good indicator of Floyd's throwing prowess.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 10:10 PM |
I've seen just about enough of those P.O.S. Jose Vizcaino hits fall in against us thankyouverymuch
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 10:11 PM |
Vizcaino and Berkman with none-out singles. Ensberg up.

Arghhhh!!!
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 10:12 PM |
Well, here's to all those who want Bell to get all those important innings!
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 10:13 PM |
Double turds.
Edgy DC Jun 09 2005 10:14 PM |
Shouldn't Vizcaino have followed Kent to LA by now?
Edgy DC Jun 09 2005 10:16 PM |
6-3 Poop.
holychicken Jun 09 2005 10:17 PM |
Ugh. This is either Kaz's or that damn squirrels fault!
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 10:18 PM |
If this was the 'Give a spot to Danny Graves' audition, Bell passed.
Rockin' Doc Jun 09 2005 10:20 PM |
Well, this game turned to shit pretty quickly.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 10:22 PM |
Heilman looks good again while closing the proverbial barn door.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 10:25 PM |
2-3-4 to face Lidge down by three runs.
Swan Swan H Jun 09 2005 10:27 PM |
Cameron fans on a fastball, but Beltran pulls a double past Berkman.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 10:31 PM |
I have no objection to Bell, just towards those idiot Met fans who pre-decide that they're going to divide the team into two camps: the chosen ones and the designated whipping boys.
KC Jun 09 2005 10:32 PM |
Jeez, Floyd just looked silly against Lidge. Missed strike two by a foot and
Rockin' Doc Jun 09 2005 10:36 PM |
Lidge has some pretty sick stuff.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2005 10:41 PM |
Well, we can't keep getting 6 hits a night and expect to win.
Rotblatt Jun 09 2005 10:42 PM |
Floyd was seriously pressing.
Johnny Dickshot Jun 09 2005 10:43 PM |
We have a lousy offense.
cooby Jun 09 2005 11:20 PM |
Happy birthday tomorrow, Johnny. They'll win for you then!
Willets Point Jun 09 2005 11:25 PM |

What, do you think he's Cooby or something.
cooby Jun 09 2005 11:26 PM |
They never win on my birthday :(
Edgy DC Jun 10 2005 12:10 AM |
Daubach really is a good idea right now. Some power off the bench would be nice.
Nymr83 Jun 10 2005 02:29 AM |
the Mets have NEVER won a game on my birthday!
Rotblatt Jun 10 2005 08:01 AM |
Now that I've slept on it, I think there are some good take-aways from last night. Hernandez, Heilman & Loopy continued to look good, and Wright finally got moved up in the order.
Matsui over the series: 3-9, with 2 BB & a HBP. That's a BA of .300 & an OBP of .500, with no E. Our fans, and our beat writers, are fucking retards sometimes.
cooby Jun 10 2005 01:14 PM |
...incidentally, i was born in January.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 10 2005 02:00 PM |
There have been very few Mets games played on my birthday. But the Mets beating the Giants on Benny Agbayani's walk off, extra inning homer in 2000 was a pretty good birthday present :)
Yancy Street Gang Jun 10 2005 02:04 PM |
And, as I've mentioned before, that was a conception day for my daughter.
