My position is that I personally like emoticons, but I know that a lot of people here do not, and I will not object to disabling the emoticons if it will make the place more palatable to people.

Kill them, kill them, kill them.

I'd personally prefer it if [u:bc4d6a67bf]I[/u:bc4d6a67bf] had the ability to shit-can the critters while making my posts just so I don't have to look at them sitting there mocking me while I type.

But since that's not one of the choices -- Shit-Can 'em all together!

Yeah get rid of them.

Is anyone actually using emoticons?

I use them. But not from the menu on the left. If I need one (and sometimes, I do) I'll link to the image on my HD.

For instance, I have one to describe how I feel about my favorite player, Jason Lane

And another one to talk about my least favorite player, Jeff Kent

Go for it Annie, I've got a shitload of them in my favorites, too

Hey! Another Jeff Kent hater! Cool.

I voted to keep them; they don't bother me at all. The question is, what happens if we want to link one from another site, like Annie does? I like this one:

The problem with the little buggers is that sometimes they're too boring.

I'd love to get rid of them.

I hat them.

I'm liking how this voting is going.

I wouldn't care if people linked to smilies from other places ( I mean I would just cause I hate the little bastards but if peeps dig 'em so much that they're willing to go te extra mile to throw them up there then God bless them) because really what I hate is the overuse of them.

If they are not easily accessible here then I'm certain that overusage wouldn't be a problem.

I've never understood why people hat them, but I don't really care one way or the other.

Kill the Smiley! Kill the Smileys!

I don't mind the occasional smiley (I really liked Slugger's old beer chugging smiley), but I don't like seeing them to the left of the text screen every time I want to post. If people wish to use them, the can easily find them else. When it cames to smiley faces, I think moderation is the key.

I guess we'll turn 'em off for awhile. People can use third party smilies if
ya need a fix from time to time.

What thread was the font discussion in, I couldn't find it on quick glance.
I changed the font briefly this morning to courier and YUCK, not pleasing
to the eye for everyday web page reading. This is arial for anyone following
along, does anyone have any other suggestions to try?

Lol, turning them off doesn't remove them from the "post a reply" page.

Stubborn critters, maybe we should leave 'em on since the voting wasn't
a landslide?

As for font, I always prefer Times New Roman.

Arial is better suited for reading on a web page.

You're right, and it doesn't even seem to help if you disable them in your personal profile.

the :?: emoticon was the entire motivation for my new moniker!

Could you at least leave me that one?

Don't you know anything about polling? 52% is a MANDATE from the Crane Pool citizenry to shit-can the critters.
