Mom, you are beginning to demonstrate so many yuppified tendencies that we're beginning to think that you might be a closet Cubs fan.

I'm not following your logic 62.

We have this great appetizer recipe from The Stinking Rose cookbook, and the most difficult part about it is peeling all of the garlic. It is going to be SO easy to make it now :)

Don't you guys have garlic presses?

I'm reminded of Joe Queenan's thesis that the failure of the Baby Boomer generation was finalized when ordinary guys started discussing their appreciation of the provenance of balsamic vinegar.

ther's nothing wrong with ordinary, manly guys enjoying the delights of the culinary world. and i'll kick your ass if you think otherwise!

This thing beats all out, must be taken care of though.

I'm down with balsamic vinegar and I'll debate pre-peeled garlic vs. regular garlic (I'll do my own peeling thank you) but I've got to come down on the razor blade over the buzzing electric thing.
|
ScarletKnight41 Jun 10 2005 11:07 AM |
That's fine sharpie. You can come over to my house and peel garlic for me any time you want <g>

Is peeling garlic really that difficult? I use a ton of garlic and I am super lazy. . . it is the chopping I hate. . . but a good garlic press takes care of that for me. Peeling it has never bene an issue . . . unless I had to peel like 20 a night or something.

One blast with the Super Chopper and the garlic is peeled. I don't see what the big whoop is. Of course, we've gotten lazy and use the jar stuff occasionally also.

This recipe requires A LOT of garlic -

Ah, yes, sauted garlic. I can see that it would.

It's not exactly sauteed. It's called Bagna Calda -
|
cooby Jun 10 2005 11:32 AM |
Sounds very good, actually
|
ScarletKnight41 Jun 10 2005 11:33 AM |
It is. And the only tough thing about it is peeling the garlic.

Next party I have I am DEFINITELY cooking some of that.

Shaving isn't about the razor. I've found that if you use KING OF SHAVES you can shave with a cheap disposable, butter knife or reciprocating saw and still get great smooth chick-attracting results.

|
Frayed Knot Jun 11 2005 06:49 PM |
And does a gay guy come with it and look over your shoulder saying things like; "nice application of product" ?
|
Johnny Dickshot Jun 11 2005 07:35 PM |
It must have some menthol in it or something. It's way xpensive but I got some as a gift from Ms. Dickshot and love it. I'd use a whole tube a day if I could afford it.

I just prepared the Bagna Calda for this evening. The peeled garlic is SO worth it - it changed the prep time from 45 minutes to five!
|
ScarletKnight41 Jun 24 2005 09:50 PM |
Upon review and consideration, the peeled garlic didn't cook as well as the real thing. I still like having it around for having garlic to throw into recipes quickly and easily, but for the Bagna Calda I'll go back to using the real thing.
