Doesn't come out for the bell to start the 7th round, claims he's now retired.

GOOD!

Just pulled this nugget from the AP report about the fight..

In a career filled with tremendous highs and terrible lows, Tyson may have reached a new low in the loss to McBride, an Irish journeyman who came into the fight with no credentials.

journeyman is what McBride is, I think he works construction in Boston.

Fourteenth retirement for Tyson.

The fight sort of recalled the plot to a novel, by hardboiled novelist Colin Bateman, called Of Wee Sweety Mice and Men, in which a big Irish puncher who has trouble keeping his weight down gets hired to be a tuneup bout for a Tyson comeback.

McBride's wife didn't get kidnapped though.

Tyson loses...

Good. Hopefully he will retire and fade into obscurity.

And we care why?

EDIT: I 'm more concerned about the decline of another mid-30's athlete named Mike, who plays right catcher for our team. Although the comparison of the two is an interesting thought. Someone started that thread on NYFO and it was shut down by the mods because they personally didn't think it was appropriate.
NYFO - stifling creativity on a daily basis.

I love mike tyson

Made 500$ on what I thought was a no brainer of a bet. Turns out it was!

i can't believe, even if this mcbride was a complete joker, that tyson would be favored over a younger, bigger and taller competitor. . .so I jumped on the odds.

Sweeeeet.

I doubt McBride is the return of the Irish heavyweight but some in the media are giddy..
