martin Aug 23 2005 09:45 PM |
tonight is the night i find out if i am the grand prize winner of the panasonic hdtv from msg for their "watch and win" contest. i am already one of the 24 finalists and i won an mp3 player.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 09:45 PM |
Reyes leads off with an infield single, and Cairo bunts him to second.
martin Aug 23 2005 09:49 PM |
i would have liked to see kaz get another start tonight. fran and i agree that he needs confidence.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 09:52 PM |
Reyes is stranded, and we go to the bottom of the first.

World Series kegger at martin's house if he wins! Yeah!
MiniKnight Aug 23 2005 10:00 PM |
A good job by the Mets to get out of that jam - men on the corners and nobody out!
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:05 PM |
Wright singles and scores on a VD triple. 1-0 Mets!
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:05 PM |
Great hustle by Diaz.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:09 PM |
And Castro comes through - bottom of the Mets order looking sharp.
MiniKnight Aug 23 2005 10:10 PM |
It almost looked like Diaz was trying to hold up his swing, even though he made a full one.
MiniKnight Aug 23 2005 10:12 PM |
Two triples in one inning - wow!
MiniKnight Aug 23 2005 10:16 PM |
Look at that - the ball ricochets off the pitcher's leg, completely messing up the timing of the defense. Thus allowing the run to score and the batter to be safe.
metirish Aug 23 2005 10:16 PM |
I luv # 7, what a joy to watch.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:17 PM |
Mr. Triple does it again!
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:19 PM |
BEAUTIFUL catch by Floyd!
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:19 PM |
Cliffie going to full extension to turn an extra base hit into an out.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:20 PM |
Do you two knights have separate computers, or are you taking turns?
Beenso Aug 23 2005 10:20 PM |
floyd...what a fantastic guy...crazy how opinions change year after year
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:22 PM |
One computer/separate web browsers.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 23 2005 10:24 PM |
That was a great 2nd inning.

Amazin's are hittin' the ball hard.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:28 PM |
Mr. Wright hits a long double, then moves to third on a wild pitch.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:28 PM |
Diaz going for the cycle?
Johnny Dickshot Aug 23 2005 10:28 PM |
Diaz whacks one off the fence, 5-zip.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:28 PM |
VD's double knocks in Wright.
MiniKnight Aug 23 2005 10:29 PM |
Just what we were hoping for - a wild pitch!
Willets Point Aug 23 2005 10:31 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 23 2005 10:33 PM |
MK, aren't you up late? My Mom never let me stay up this late. I'm jealous.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:32 PM |
And the hits just keep on coming.
MiniKnight Aug 23 2005 10:33 PM |
My mom and dad are forcing me to go to bed after this half inning.
Willets Point Aug 23 2005 10:35 PM |
Ah, well at least they let you watch part of the game.
GYC Aug 23 2005 10:38 PM |
If only the Mets could play like this on every road trip, or even every other road trip...
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:38 PM |
VD scores as Arizona fails to turn the double play. Tony Clark's foot was off the bag. 6-0 Mets!
GYC Aug 23 2005 10:39 PM |
Yeah, really. How old is he? I wasn't allowed to stay up until 10:30 until... last year. And I'm almost 16 now. Jeez. That's not fair.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:41 PM |
C'mon, Mom, how often does he get to see the Mets kick butt on a Western road trip?
Nymr83 Aug 23 2005 10:41 PM |
go mets...now PLEASE find a way not to turn this into a bad roadtrip again. i reccomend sweeping arizona, i hear its not hard and its fun! i have not seen the broom guy in a long time.
GYC Aug 23 2005 10:43 PM |
Wow. They didn't boo him because he is pitching poorly, they booed him because he jogged to 1st. Odd.
Frayed Knot Aug 23 2005 10:45 PM |
That's actually the kind booing I approve of. They're showing displeasure at the lack of effort as opposed to merely the lack of success.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:46 PM |
MK has gone to bed. Because the inning lasted so long, he got to stay up way longer than we anticipated - LOL
GYC Aug 23 2005 10:47 PM |
I was angered by the fact that the fans at Shea were booing Benson the other day. Sure, he didn't go a full inning and got pounded, but he's still been a very consistent starter for us this year.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:47 PM |
Zambrano fields the third out. 6-1 Mets after three innings.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:50 PM |
MK recently turned 9.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 10:51 PM |
Scarlet - he's a great kid, and a great addition to the group.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 10:53 PM |
Thank you Mole.
GYC Aug 23 2005 10:58 PM |
The 5th of Decemeber. Going to be a Sophmore this year.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 11:00 PM |
Ah. My daughter is going to be a junior - she just makes the cutoff.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 11:01 PM |
Zambrano has a 1-2-3 inning. Still 6-1.
Frayed Knot Aug 23 2005 11:02 PM |
I agree. Fans who boo lack of results as if they were promised a particular outcome just plain don't understand the sport they're watching.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 11:03 PM |
Check out the updated "Art" page of my website for a picture of my littlest ballplayer rounding third and heading for home.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 11:05 PM |
Awww Mole - that is a sweet picture :)
cooby Aug 23 2005 11:06 PM |
That is cute, but where did Nude with Mouse go?
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 11:10 PM |
I can put it back. I change them every now and again.
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 11:11 PM |
Meanwhile, the Mets now have 8 runs.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 23 2005 11:12 PM |
Jake can rake.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 11:13 PM |
Jacobs hit his second major league homer, driving in Mr. Wright in the process.
metirish Aug 23 2005 11:13 PM |
Damn Jacobs has a sweet swing, likes that change-up to hit, WOW.

TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 11:23 PM |

GYC Aug 23 2005 11:28 PM |
Another infield single for the Mets. Jeez.
Rockin' Doc Aug 23 2005 11:28 PM |
Just checking in for the first time since the Mets half of the first innning. Now this is the type of IGT that is a pleasure to read through.
metirish Aug 23 2005 11:31 PM |
Yep Doc, and with other scores going our way it could be a great night,.
GYC Aug 23 2005 11:32 PM |
Ground-rule double for Wright. 11-1. Wow.
GYC Aug 23 2005 11:33 PM |
Haha, you can hear "Let's Go Mets!" chants in Arizona. Nice.
metirish Aug 23 2005 11:33 PM |
David Wright knocks in two, 11 to 1 Mets, Wright is all over the leader board for the Mets this year, what a gem he is.
metirish Aug 23 2005 11:36 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 23 2005 11:38 PM |
Jacob at bat, 3 hits in 8 AB's, 2 homers and 5 RBI, not shabby, the Mets have not been 5 games over .500 in three years.
GYC Aug 23 2005 11:37 PM |
Wow, 14-1, 5th RBI of the night for Castro. This is out of hand.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 11:38 PM |
10 Schaefer points are NOT enough for this game!
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 11:38 PM |
Another base-clearing double, and it's 13-1.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 23 2005 11:38 PM |
Holy beatdown, batman. We're up by 13!
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 11:39 PM |
quite right. 14-1.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 23 2005 11:40 PM |
Leave the bullpen alone. Zambrano is on his own to protect the 13 run lead!
TheOldMole Aug 23 2005 11:41 PM |
Might as well stay with Z since he's got 6 days to rest up.
martin Aug 23 2005 11:42 PM |
and as i expected, i have won the hdtv.
cooby Aug 23 2005 11:42 PM |
MARTIN WON THE TV!!!!!!!!!
Rotblatt Aug 23 2005 11:43 PM |

cooby Aug 23 2005 11:44 PM |

GYC Aug 23 2005 11:44 PM |
How did he win a TV? Mets contest or something?

GYC Aug 23 2005 11:46 PM |
Well, anyway, congrats Martin.
metirish Aug 23 2005 11:48 PM |

metirish Aug 24 2005 12:10 AM |

Zvon Aug 24 2005 12:30 AM |
Bell to pitch the 9th.
martin Aug 24 2005 12:30 AM |
beautiful game. low stress, good performances all around, free hdtv, it doesnt get much better than that.
Zvon Aug 24 2005 12:34 AM |
no it dont Tucker. Zambrano scatters 6 hits, Bell ks 2 in his perfect 9th. Some much needed great pitching last 2 days. Mets whipped out their whuppin sticks and did some ball whuppin. Cant wait to see the highlights on ESPN.
Rockin' Doc Aug 24 2005 08:21 AM |
Rotblatt - "Pity. This would be a perfect spot for Graves."
MFS62 Aug 24 2005 08:42 AM |
I hope that 30+ years from now, baseball historians will be mentioning Wally Pipp and Doug Mientkiewicz in the same sentence.
seawolf17 Aug 24 2005 09:12 AM |
Congrats Martin!
ScarletKnight41 Aug 24 2005 09:16 AM |
martin - I had already moved from the room with the computer to the bedroom when I saw your name on tv, but I told D-Dad, "That's a Crane Pooler who won!"

Every time I read another article about yesterday's game I get more excited...not about the 2005 playoff implications, but for the team as a whole in the future. From the Daily News:
And we got anudder young'un who has rediscovered himself pitching tonight. Actually, though, I sometimes forget that Seo isn't that young. In any event, it's an exciting time to be a Met fan.
Bret Sabermetric Aug 24 2005 02:49 PM |
Maybe before I die I'll get to see another young Met promoted to MLB stardom on the basis of ability, and not injury-motivated desperation (or picked up by another team). You'd think someone would have the brains to recognize talent, and the balls to act on it.
Yancy Street Gang Aug 24 2005 02:54 PM |
What about David Wright? Why was he promoted if not for his ability?
ScarletKnight41 Aug 24 2005 03:02 PM |
Because of his matinee idol good looks and his Hollywood smile. Duh!
Yancy Street Gang Aug 24 2005 03:11 PM |
Oh, yeah. That.
Willets Point Aug 24 2005 03:16 PM |
Not to mention his appeal to New York's large caucausian population.
seawolf17 Aug 24 2005 03:24 PM |
I know... it made me sick that they would pander to the white fans like that.
Elster88 Aug 24 2005 03:35 PM |
What say you, Bret?
