Cincinnati at Washington 1:05 PM
Florida at Milwaukee 2:05 PM

Philadelphia and Houston are idle.

Oakland plays Detroit at 1:00. Rich Harden is skipping his turn, at least for a couple of days, to rest a minor muscle injury. Zito is pitching in his place (but the A's had an off day Monday, so he's on normal rest).

Also in the AL:

NYY hosts Toronto this afternoon: Chacon vs Chacin
good thing Phil Rizzutto is no longer announcing - man wouldn't HE get confused!

Twinkies hanging on the fringe of the WC & AL Central races - send Silva up against Jon Garland and the visiting ChiSox in a gay dame

Cleveland in Tampa tonight - Cliff Lee goes against Kazmir

Boston in KC (8:00) - Schilling starts against Lima (that'll get you some post-game quotes)

Sheff and A-Rod do the back to back thing. 4-0 MFY

Gnats losing 1-0 already to the Commies.

Washington ties it. 1-1 in the top of the fifth.

Milwaukee gets a run in the first. 1-0 in the top of the second.

Oakland has a 9-0 lead over Detroit in the 6th. Zito is probably having a heart attack over receiving that kind of run support.

Cincy regains the lead after an RBI single from Kearns. 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

Florida ties it up in the top of the third.

I love the watching of the scoreboards.

Cincy pushes another one across on a Junior Griffey home run. 3-1 in the top of the seventh, and the Reds have first and third with one out.

Fish and Beermakers still at 1-1 in the top of the fifth.

A Carrasco wild pitch makes it 4-1 Reds.

Hector Carrasco, drafted by the Mets in 1988, still helping us 17 years later.

Mike Ryan with a two-out RBI double in the ninth off Damaso Marte (was Hermanson not available?) and the White Sox and Twins will play extra innings.

Jason LaRue doubles to knock another in. 5-1 Reds going to the bottom of the seventh. Looking good on that front.

Yay, he's mine

Now it's 11-1. Our old friend Jay Payton just hit a 2-run homer in the 9th for good measure.

11-0 Oakland over Detroit is now a final.

Wow... Detroit actually lost a run between Scarlet's posts. Tough luck, Tigers.

I meant to say 11-1.

I need a nap.

The MFYs beat Toronto by a score of 6-2.

The White Sox beat the Twinkies 2-1 in 10 innings.

Cincy leading 5-1.

Ken Griffey Jr. looks like his old self again, in case you've missed it flying under the radar.

Griffey's numbers this season:

.298, 30 HR, 86 RBI

Marlins get runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out but Doug Davis strikes out LoDuca and then gets Lowell to ground out on the 10th pitch of the at-bat.

Still tied 1-1, 7th inning stretch.

Washington gets two in the ninth on a Wilkerson home run, but it's not enough. They lose 5-3.

ScarletKnight41

It's a final in Washington. Despite a 9th inning 2-run homer by Brad Wilkerson, Cincy holds on to defeat the Nationals, 5-3!

Our old friend David Weathers earned his 11th save of the season.

Gwreck
Aug 25 2005 04:35 PM

David Weathers strikes out Jose Guillen (up as the tying run) to seal the Cincy victory/Washington loss.

Also in the ex-Met dept., Kane Davis has resurfaced as a reliever for the Brewers. Still 1-1 going to the 9th.

Extra frames in Milwaukee.

Marlins win 3-1 in the 10th. Damn.

In the AL, Cleveland is well on their way to keeping the 3-way WC race in a log-jam. Oakland won earlier and so did the Yanx. So tonight the Injuns did a tap-dance on Scott Kazmir's skull to the tune of 7 ER in 2.1 IPs and lead 12-4 after 7.

The bad news is that Curt Schilling's return to the rotation isn't going well (nor was his relief stint for that matter). Royals got him for 6 earned and lead 6-2 after 5.
