record this one and watch it tomorrow afternoon.

Tuff to sit Matsui after his strong game yesterday.

It would be nice to see Beltran do something, when was his last home run, seems like ages ago.

OlerudOwned
Aug 25 2005 09:52 PM

Well, as someone had hoped, LuGo gets hit with a pitch. I'm "watching" the game on MLB.com Gameday, so I dunno if it was intentional or not. But it happened.

Frayed Knot
Aug 25 2005 09:52 PM

And there's your HBP/retaliation.
Howie & Gary speculating that Matsui's plunking had to do with his delay in getting to the plate following some sort of helmet mixup in the dugout.

Valadius
Aug 25 2005 09:53 PM

And Matsui was laughing as he went to bat then, which pissed off the D-Backs pitcher.

Pedro didn't even try to beat out the throw.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 25 2005 10:22 PM

Pedro's not doing much wrong IMO. We've seen him take an inning or two to get up to speed plenty of times -- and at least they're not hitting him around.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 25 2005 10:23 PM

5 K's, 7 outs.

Zvon
Aug 25 2005 10:28 PM

so far, I cant complain.
Mets got 2 on small ball and long ball, and our ace is on the mound. Struggling tho, even tho no hits yet.

Councell walks and steals 2nd.
Do your stuff Pedro.
However you do it, keep us in the lead.

Zvon
Aug 25 2005 10:29 PM

maybe struggling is an overreaction to the fact he's all ready thrown over 50 pitches in the 3rd

Valadius

Pedro's getting his fastball up to 92 mph tonight.

Valadius

Valadius

2-0 Metsies through 3.

metirish
Aug 25 2005 10:35 PM

Like Zvon said, the pitch count could be a problem, his career high for BB is seven, that's just amazing and that was when he was with the Expos.

Zvon
Aug 25 2005 10:37 PM

Pitchers of Martinez's level always seem to find a way.

A pop up and a foul out and its still 2-0 Mets.

On an unrelated note, Shilling got shelled today in his 1st game back as a starter.
5 innings pitched. Gave up 8 hits, 6 earned runs. Threw 81 pitches, only walking one.

I agree here. Now would be a good time for Beltran to do a lil hittin.
I know many made light of how he hits when Pedro pitches(early on), but at least we had that to poke fun at. Ive enjoy watchin Beltran do the little things. I really want to see him do more of the bigger things during this stretch.

I hope the Dback batters help out by swinging their bats and not looking at too many pitches. Pedros up to 67 pitches.

Afew quick innings is what we need. Get him to go deep before we hit the pen. We could def use 7 or 8 from pedro. If he goes deeper than that Ill eat my scooby snack.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 26 2005 12:16 AM

Wow.

I was kinda glad Tracy's drive snuck over the fence rather than pinballed around Diaz. Somehow the idea of Gonzo-Clark-Glaus-Green with a runner on and 2-run cushion is scarier than bases empty, 1-run.

We're going to have a bullpen problem this weekend.

You got Trax making a season debut, with Heilman coming off consecutive ineffective outings, a HUGE 2-inning struggling effort by Bert and Loopy, presumably, in the 9th tonight.

No sight of Bell or Padilla -- they're your middle inning guys tommorrow.

No, it's not just you. Last time we spoke up about an annoying signature line, we scared somebody away and we all got lectured.

But, as I said before, I'd like to avoid the "slippery slope." So many other forums are blighted by busy signatures and giant avatars. I liked how ezBoard kept the avatars small. I'd like to figure out a way to do that here. And I think we should have a policy that all sig lines should be text only.
