I travel all the way to Chicago and what game to I get to watch? The Freakin' Braves! The White Sox game isn't on, but the damn Braves game is (was). What is wrong with these people?

Good job by Howie Rose on mentioning the no-no.

Rockin' Doc
Aug 26 2005 11:19 PM

Not the last time I checked. They were showing the local news instead.

So I watched the last few innings of the Braves game on TBS and then flipped over to ESPN. At least the Atlanta game had a happy ending.

D-Rob got a hand fracture, similar to Kevin Mawae's injury last year, nothing big, but Pennington looked horrendous. The whole offense did.

I'd go to bed but the Mets don't have a big enough lead (10+ runs).

TheOldMole

Too bad Durham couldn't have made his error on that shot by Cairo a couple innings ago. Still, a baserunner is always nice.

Frayed Knot
Aug 27 2005 12:03 AM

I like Trax batting there.

Seaver kept talking about a pitch count but the guy had 6 rehab starts plus a simulated game and was able to build up to 100+ pitches. No reason why he needs to be held back here and with the meat of the pen all being used yesterday I'd rather see him in bottom 8 (and maybe 9) than anyone else right now.

GYC
Aug 27 2005 12:07 AM

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 27 2005 12:30 AM

That was a hell of an effort by Trax tonite.

I was certain we'd rue the 1 extra pitch caused by Jacob's inability to catch that foul pop up 5 innings ago. Now he's off the hook, Trax can only win and deserves to, and it's the longest possible time till Beltran bats again:

Rally time!

I think what Beltran was "afraid" of was having the ball go by him if he dove for that ball but missed. That's the wise play there. Neither he nor Diaz - nor any Diaz replacement you might want to name - were likely to catch that one.

- Looper on why Padilla was warming up:
Nothing to do with him, just throwing on his own since he hadn't pitched since being stretched out on that day Benson bombed
(Gary & Howie speculated that it was something to do w/Looper).

- Trax: Was "getting close" [to his limit] during the last few batters.

Aug 27 2005 08:53 AM

A fine, fine game (and IGT) last night! As y'all said, Trachs looked dominant--I was thinking no-hitter after the first inning and that super wide strike zone the ump was calling, which probably jinxed the damn thing right there.

That K zone totally shrunk as the game progressed, though, which pisses me off.

Okay, which PISSED me off. I'm not unnhappy about anything right now.
