Bart's Posting Dilema (ABG)

KC
Aug 25 2005 11:55 AM

ABG can't post or even get past the first menu screen.

His id looks fine in the member management section. He's messed with
browser settings and I suggested temporarily disabling any internet security
software to see if that was blocking anything.

If I understand him correctly, this place is the onlything he's having trouble
loading ... and we're perplexed as heck.

Any input, ideas, suggestions from the galley? Problem solver wins a Jon-
athan Trumpbour Matlack baseball card.

Thanks.

What did you do this morning? Didn't stay fixed, huh?

What the hell kind of a middle name is Trumpbour? I thought you made that up, but I guess not.

Bart, how about if you trying reregistering with a different name, and seeing if it works, just to find out if it is your computer, or if it is just the ABG account that has a problem

I just realized, he can't read this...

I had a problem that if I search for "crane pool" in Google, I get a link to the index but can't open any threads. However, if I go to "www.cranepoolforum.net" it works fine.

Maybe he can't long in because he didn't defend his title in the Song Parody Contest.

That was me. I signed in as him to see if was an id problem or a connection problem.

Someone should start an odd Mets middle name thread - Matlack is winning.

Wow, what fun you could have with that trick!

If anyone needs to discuss this with Bart and don't have his email, there's a
discussion started about it in the "uh oh" thread on the old board.

Everything works fine when I come home and post (though I use firefox on my home computer). I"ve been doing the google bit at work--maybe that's the problem.

Bart, instead of using google to find the new site, go in on your home computer and cut and paste the URL into an email.
Send the email to yourself at your work computer.
Then click on the link from there.

See if that works.

Sorry for the issues, Bart. If you have no other browsing issues at work, then
something or someone is blocking your access.

I don't follow this google thing that a few people have mentioned. Why use a
search engine to find something that you can find on your own?

cranepoolforum.com and cranepoolforum.net should get ya here most times.
It's pretty easy to remember, and then there's always bookmarks or favorites.

I hope the commish gets his glitch worked out soon.

I use google to find the crane pool when I'm using a shared computer at work. If I type in the URL it's there in the location bar as proof to anyone else that I was goofing off at work. Bookmarks would be even more blatant.

Precisely. I was doing the google thing, and now I'm not. So everything's all good, until I get fired for staring at graven images of Christ on the cross.

Sorry, I guess some of us have stricter computer issues at work than others.
Shared computers and possible monitoring of activity hadn't occured to me.

ABG
Aug 26 2005 09:26 AM

It's not really strict--actually, not at all--the Google thing was just a habit from using boards where I didn't know the URL.

Before I leave work, I clear history, cookies, temp files, bookmarks, recycle bin-----everything, and as far as I know, I don't share (so far, but we're adding a second shift soon)

I just do it because I'm paranoid.

Hooray! Problem solved!
