IGT 09/05, Phils at Mets

KC

I looked fifteen minutes ago and no lineup in the Philly Inq or USA Today.
The lineup is always late out of Shea.

A win tonight would give me great peace of mind.

Can't let throws get thru like that JReyes... what-r-ya-doin?
That was not such a bad throw.

Phils score on the SB/error and following ground out.

0-1 after a half.

Zvon
Sep 05 2008 05:20 PM

Watchin Burrell play left never fails to crack me up.

Zvon
Sep 05 2008 05:26 PM

Gah.
Big DP by the Phils ends the Met threat in the 1st.

Would have liked to answer right back there.

Beltran's just killing shit now. Great to see.

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 05 2008 05:51 PM

Of course, if we keep stranding him at second like that...

Top of the order in the next inning. Let's get some runs.

Zvon
Sep 05 2008 06:00 PM

Thats snag by Howard was HUGE.
That was a lead off triboom© taken away.

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 06:18 PM

Eight-pitch inning by Pelf.

Time to remind Myers that he's a jerk.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 05 2008 06:26 PM

Let;s get around to that next inning.

He's really getting the calls on either side of the plate tonight. Castillo deserved better in both turns.

The next baserunner he allows will destroy him.

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 06:27 PM

Yeah, Castillo was scrod.

TransMonk
Sep 05 2008 06:35 PM

I like this Pelfrey kid.

C'mon, O...let's score some runs!

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 06:36 PM

Yeah, that's what you can do with that walking lead.

Get back in the dugout.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 05 2008 06:42 PM

Murphy doubles and Doobie is thrown out the first time he doesn't get a borderline call.

Myers is a curve ball machine tonight , great pitching duel.

Stupid question here but why would Phillie have a blue dot on top of their caps?

KC
Sep 05 2008 06:48 PM

Quick moving game. Why are there so many empty seats at Shea tonight?

The weather report, I'd imagine.

Sep 05 2008 06:50 PM

That error leading to the only run should be going to Reyes and not the Schneid.

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 07:00 PM

Felt way too good after we got Burrell.

Dobbs HR makes it 3-0, Church was so close to robbing him that he touched it with the top of his glove as it went out.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 05 2008 07:01 PM

Churchie had a real shot.

Dobbgamit.

Color, not play-by-play!

Like that.

Win it for Hillary.

I don't want to, but I gotta tip my cap to Myers tonight.

The pigfucker.

AG/DC

Fuggit. Let's start battering and wake up Monday morning with six shaved off of that magic number.

tmf: The weather report, I'd imagine<<<

Doesn't really explain large sections of the outer-uppers with like no one in
them. You'd think the place would be packed, it has basically been kinda
packed for a lotta games and this one was huge.

Zvon
Sep 05 2008 07:31 PM

Okay guys.
We only need 3 to tie, 4 to win.

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 07:34 PM

Who did you want leading off?

If you didn't say Murphy, you're a liar.

Zvon
Sep 05 2008 07:34 PM

Murph goes into like a Reggie Jackson leg slouch thing when he takes a big cut.

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 07:39 PM

Why is Wright up there swinging?

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 07:39 PM

I mean, there's that. Sure.

Well, how many times this year have we lost the first game in a series to Philly just to come back and take the rest?

Myers was on, but I'm still confident.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 05 2008 08:09 PM

Eh. Meyers got a few pitches early he maybe shouldn'tve, we made Lidge earn it in the 9th and had some bad luck defensively. Church had the timing and the height, just not the proper alignment.

The only regrettable moment IMO was Wright having a very bad turn at-bat after Murphy's leadoff double in the 5th I think. May have gone on 3 pitches. Go get 'em Sunday. I was out running and it's windy and sticky as hell.

Gary tonight referring to the Nationals playing very well lately:

"That's called a 'dead cat bounce'".

Love that.

Found that very strange, too. Paid attendance was 48 and change, which means those sections just weren't sold. Walk-up sales must've been real poor. Found that a little disheartening.

On the other hand, I thought the crowd was *really* loud in the 9th.

Not much good to take away from this game. I figure we just get the next tow and be on our way.

AG/DC
Sep 05 2008 09:01 PM

If the Wilps getting forty-eight and change is poor for them, I'm not shedding a tear.

David is getting by on talent these days because his approach just isn't there. Very un-Murphylike. I half want to credit his ninth-inning double to Daniel for getting a ten-pitch at-bat while Wright chased two pitches out of the zone before connecting.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 05 2008 09:06 PM

That's complete bullshit.

It was 12-pitch at-bat.

Nymr83
Sep 05 2008 11:56 PM

we needed baserunners in the 9th, but Murphy did a good job there making Lidge work and showing everyone everything he had. You often get a walk out of ABs like that, just didn't happen this time. I've really warmed up to Murphy.
