The Bloody Aftermath and Stuff

Snooze sez Cancel has been summoned to Philly even though Blastro sez his injury isn't so bad. I wonder why he's been getting the calls and Casanova not. MILB.com thinks Cancel is a pitcher btw.

The Show was evidently irritated after the game, refusing to talk to reporters and referring them instead to "the man in the chair" -- Manuel. Rubin sez he's not sure if Show was pissed at having been the last man summoned or unhappy he was asked to load the bases (?).

Either way, we could use some bullpen reinforcements if only for today. Al Reyes threw a scoreless inning, 2 Ks last night at Bingo. Would anyone here blow a gasket if we were to activate Reyes and say, DFA/trade Duaner Sanchez? I canh't see where he can be trusted anymore.

Rubin sez Niese is the man Tuesday v. the Brewcrew. He says Bobby Parnell is a likely addition to the bullpen but that Fartinez, Kunz, Carp are UNlikely, since the Mets would prefer to keep the clubhouse clear of puppies during the stretch.

Why? The pen is already full of dogs.

I hate the anti-puppy philosophy. I say a 40-man roster should mean 40 players.

So say I.

Considering they're a reliever short to start with and that Heilman is almost certainly unavailable today, Reyes III wouldn't be a surprise although I'm not sure who they'll ship out to affect that.

On the other hand they could gamble on Johan pitching deep and the day off tomorrow getting them back on track. Then you'll just have a shitty pen instead of a shitty, tired, short-handed pen.

Who goes for Cancel -- Argenis?

Maybe Show is pissed that Jerry calls on Feliciano first all the time even though he hasn't gotten anyone out since around the time of the Bay of Pigs Invansion

I'd be surprised if Sanchez was DFA'd , I think they(Mets) see him getting back his lost velocity for next year . I would not be surprised to see him get buried in the pen though.

Schoenweis should shut the hell up. He brought the 'pen together a few weeks ago for a meeting and now he's either insulting a teammate (by saying that he's better than Feliciano) or the manager. Who the hell is Schoenweis to insult anybody?

I'm so fucking pissed today. No game on the tube last night. Whatever the fucking reason, Comcast said I should have been getting it but wasn't. Hello, I have the MLB package, it has to be somewhere Assjack. Had to follow along with the ESPN gamecast on the computer and that shit site was two innings slow. Needless to say I was going blind looking at the computer, glancing off to check score updates on the Blackberry all the while going into a trance watching Hillary in that God aweful pant suit, two shades brighter than a friggin Coast Guard life preserver. How the hell do you blow 7-0? This isn't Little League. Shit, Jerry, kick 'em in the cunts.

Game plan vs. the Mets: Tire out the starting pitcher and you're golden. That's rich.

Not for nothing but Schoeneweis did shut up. We don't know precisely why he was mad.

We don't have room for "unimportant" relievers. Our committement to Sanchez is up after this season and I wouldn't be interested in having him back.

See I thought Sanchez was under contract for next year , still I doubt they would boot him yet, would not be surprised though if he's not back next year.

Interesting sidebar: Met-killer Pat Burrell batted third and went 0-7, fanning four times (I believe that's a sombrero) and leaving 10 guys on base.

Hard to say whether Burrell or his No. 3 hitting counterpart had the worse game.

Sanchez would be under team control next year but is not presently under contract.

What we do in the off-season is a question for the off-season. I can't see them just dumping relievers now (unless in a trade) so close to Sept 1.

Mets get Figgy
Word is that Nelson Figueroa is en route to Philadelphia today in addition to Robinson Cancel. No guarantee both get activated, I suppose. Aaron Heilman obviously is unavailable after tossing 60 pitches Tuesday. And Ramon Castro was headed to New York today for an MRI exam of his strained right quadriceps..

No word on which pitcher gets sacrificed however. Place your bets in rhyme!

Duaner a goner!

Rubin updates:

UPDATE: Both Cancel and Figueroa will be active tonight.

UPDATE II: Castro has landed on the DL and Argenis Reyes has been optioned to New Orleans. Reyes can return Sept. 2, the day after the Zephyrs’ season ends.

It used to be that three strikeouts was the sombrero and four was called the golden sombrero.
Maybe that's changed.
