And a two-run homer from Guzman is just bad.

We're battering Lannan. If Wright hadn't got nailed at the plate...
seawolf17 Sep 09 2008 06:09 PM |
Wow, Carlos Delgado. Just wow.
metirish Sep 09 2008 06:12 PM |
yeah really , rarely see that side of the scoreboard get hit with a ball.
SteveJRogers Sep 09 2008 06:15 PM |
Side discussion, if it isn't the change in managers, is there a chance Delgado is roiding late in a contract year? Is there a chance Delgado was a roider in his past?

I know Perez sucked tonight but he has been brilliant, not good to see him booed of the mound.

steroids aren't some magic button you can just push and start clubbing homers that same day, if carlos was taking anything it would be part of a long term thing and i cant imagine that starting steroids in may or june would account for the huge and sudden increase in productivity
Elster88 Sep 09 2008 06:27 PM |
Yeah Met fans are still idiots. It does suck that we get Evil Perez when the Phillies are down 9-1.
Frayed Knot Sep 09 2008 06:28 PM |
Kind of a quick hook for Perez considering that most of the Nat hits are just finding holes rather than hard hit (even the HR was a wall-scraper) but you have to make different choices this time of year.
seawolf17 Sep 09 2008 06:29 PM |
HEY METS - CUT IT THE FUCK OUT.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 06:30 PM |
Must....get....through.....inning......
metirish Sep 09 2008 06:31 PM |
Does anyone here have anything, figgy has nothing.
seawolf17 Sep 09 2008 06:32 PM |
Finally.
metirish Sep 09 2008 06:32 PM |
Got the DP ball...good.
Elster88 Sep 09 2008 06:32 PM |
And now it's 9-4 Marlins.
KC Sep 09 2008 06:32 PM |
This could be a long month.
Frayed Knot Sep 09 2008 06:35 PM |

Lannan actually only retired 7 batters of the 16 he faced - guys who did the hard part and got on base handed them the other two outs.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 06:38 PM |
Typically I'd be distraught at this point. But this week I just sit back and think "Carlos Delgado still has at least two at-bats left." And I know good things will happen.
KC Sep 09 2008 06:41 PM |
Pitching change. The Mets will bitch slap this pen and win by 6 or 7 runs.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 06:46 PM |
KC speaks and the Mets obey!
Nymr83 Sep 09 2008 06:47 PM |
lets tack on a few runs so we can really Mock this guy.
Elster88 Sep 09 2008 06:49 PM |
I wonder if he threw that ball away on purpose so he could intentionally walk Delgado.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 06:50 PM |
With first open, they'd be crazy to pitch to him. I see a walk in Delgado's future.
Nymr83 Sep 09 2008 06:50 PM |
LETS GO TATIS!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 06:50 PM |
Manny Acta lurking in the Pool!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 06:53 PM |
Tatis hasn't been as sharp since he started the platoon.
Elster88 Sep 09 2008 06:56 PM |
Isn't Bergmann a starter?
Frayed Knot Sep 09 2008 06:56 PM |
Recently banished to the pen due to sucking.
KC Sep 09 2008 06:57 PM |
This is a dumb question, but anyone with surround sound getting loud
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 07:05 PM |
Awright, I'm following this on GameCast and can't see the action. What the heck is going on? Are they playing in the rain making it hard for the pitchers to get a grip on the ball or something?
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 07:17 PM |
Phils now 10-7.....grrrr. Let's get this one.
metirish Sep 09 2008 07:20 PM |
Commercials I like , Bill Curtis finding the internet , and the FiOS guy with red beard from the cable company.
Rockin' Doc Sep 09 2008 07:26 PM |
This isn't going well. The offense is slugging, but the pitchers can't get anyone out.
cooby Sep 09 2008 07:28 PM |
Now THAT is a simile to use in every day speech
KC Sep 09 2008 07:32 PM |
Thanks to Bill Webb or whoever, they killed the annoying lady mic.
seawolf17 Sep 09 2008 07:35 PM |
Holy COW, Carlos and Carlos.
Frayed Knot Sep 09 2008 07:35 PM |
This is now officially absurd.

Crazy hot , my wife just told me that Reyes was telling Delgado "sal sal" , go out got out...in Spanish of course.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 07:37 PM |
WOW! Dude might just be playing his way into the MVP afterall!!!
AG/DC Sep 09 2008 07:39 PM |
No, I've been assured that he's cooled off.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 07:41 PM |
Kaz Matsui could translate that for you!

The guys in the booth were wondering who the Show looks like with the mustache. The correct answer is, of course, Todd Parker, Thomas Jane's character from Boogie Nights.
Fman99 Sep 09 2008 07:55 PM |
What a game. I dig the longball.
DocTee Sep 09 2008 07:56 PM |
As Stoins would say, "the monster is out of the cage..."

Nats going with Jesus Colome

Well done sir. I was thinking he looked like Jason Giambi's skinny cousin. I also had not realized that this guy was the same one who played Mickey Mantle in Billy Crystal's tedious* 61*.
AG/DC Sep 09 2008 08:06 PM |
Done better, sir.
AG/DC Sep 09 2008 08:09 PM |
Stand up f you guessed that, when the Mets dealt Anderson Hernandez for Luis Ayala, the winner of the trade might be decided by the two facing each other with the game on the line, with Ayala as the Mets closer and Hernandez as the Washington leadoff batter, with three runs batted in already in the game, as he sports a .372 batting average.

What I do expect is that Wright wants to get his shot in tonight.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 08:12 PM |
What, you didn't see that AHearn-Alaya thing coming? I think I predicted that right after I said Carlos Delgado would go nuts and carry the team on his back for two months.
metirish Sep 09 2008 08:13 PM |
I thought it but forgot to post it.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 08:15 PM |
But I WILL take credit for saying this back when we were down by two runs and Ollie and Figgy imploded.
AG/DC Sep 09 2008 08:24 PM |
Let's go Mar-lins!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 08:25 PM |
One down!!!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 08:26 PM |
Two!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 09 2008 08:27 PM |
Three!!
Centerfield Sep 09 2008 08:27 PM |
This is SO a game they would have lost last year.
Valadius Sep 09 2008 08:29 PM |
This is a game they would have lost had Willie still been manager.
Elster88 Sep 09 2008 08:34 PM |
Ugh
themetfairy Sep 09 2008 08:36 PM |
And the Phillies lose!
Rockin' Doc Sep 09 2008 08:37 PM |
The fish are one out away from a 10-8 victory over the Phillies.
Benjamin Grimm Sep 09 2008 08:37 PM |
Any day that the magic number drops by two is an excellent day.
Centerfield Sep 09 2008 08:51 PM |
The way Delgado's swinging, you could move the fences back 50 feet and it wouldn't make any difference. Amazing.
Gwreck Sep 09 2008 09:57 PM |
Fun game to attend. Seems that Oliver's problems are usually control oriented. Tonight, he just got hit hard (6 in a row at the end). I give it an "eh" as long as he bounces back next start.
G-Fafif Sep 09 2008 10:05 PM |
I could grow to like generic closers.

His stache was not so beefy as that guy. I was thinkin he sorta looked like Inspector Clouseau.
