Phils getting a beating at home , 7 - 1 , Mets up 2 - 0.

Sep 09 2008 05:54 PM

About time this thread saw action.

A single from Anderson Hernandez is a bad sign.

AG/DC
Sep 09 2008 05:57 PM

And a two-run homer from Guzman is just bad.

We're battering Lannan. If Wright hadn't got nailed at the plate...

Wow, Carlos Delgado. Just wow.

Side discussion, if it isn't the change in managers, is there a chance Delgado is roiding late in a contract year? Is there a chance Delgado was a roider in his past?

steroids aren't some magic button you can just push and start clubbing homers that same day, if carlos was taking anything it would be part of a long term thing and i cant imagine that starting steroids in may or june would account for the huge and sudden increase in productivity

Yeah Met fans are still idiots.

It does suck that we get Evil Perez when the Phillies are down 9-1.

Frayed Knot
Sep 09 2008 06:28 PM

Kind of a quick hook for Perez considering that most of the Nat hits are just finding holes rather than hard hit (even the HR was a wall-scraper) but you have to make different choices this time of year.

And now Figgy IS getting hard hit.

seawolf17
Sep 09 2008 06:29 PM

HEY METS - CUT IT THE FUCK OUT.

Finally.

I was all set to blame Steve for this inning.

Someone get Derek Bell up in the bullpen.

Got the DP ball...good.

Elster88
Sep 09 2008 06:32 PM

And now it's 9-4 Marlins.

KC
Sep 09 2008 06:32 PM

This could be a long month.

Sorry Steve, but that two post SHUT ... UP ... was pretty damn funny.

7-5, middle of the fourth.

Frayed Knot

]If Wright hadn't got nailed at the plate...

Lannan actually only retired 7 batters of the 16 he faced - guys who did the hard part and got on base handed them the other two outs.

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 09 2008 06:38 PM

Typically I'd be distraught at this point. But this week I just sit back and think "Carlos Delgado still has at least two at-bats left." And I know good things will happen.

KC
Sep 09 2008 06:41 PM

Pitching change. The Mets will bitch slap this pen and win by 6 or 7 runs.

lets tack on a few runs so we can really Mock this guy.

Elster88
Sep 09 2008 06:49 PM

I wonder if he threw that ball away on purpose so he could intentionally walk Delgado.

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 09 2008 06:50 PM

With first open, they'd be crazy to pitch to him. I see a walk in Delgado's future.

stupid conversations from time to time out of one of the rear speakers?

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 09 2008 07:05 PM

Awright, I'm following this on GameCast and can't see the action. What the heck is going on? Are they playing in the rain making it hard for the pitchers to get a grip on the ball or something?

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 09 2008 07:17 PM

Phils now 10-7.....grrrr. Let's get this one.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 09 2008 07:26 PM

This isn't going well. The offense is slugging, but the pitchers can't get anyone out.

Meanwhile, the Marlins are coughing up their once huge lead like a Persian cat with a hairball.

Sep 09 2008 07:39 PM

No, I've been assured that he's cooled off.

Meanwhile, I'm not sure which guy was talking in the Mets booth, because I was too busy dancing with the Missus, the dog, and the hamster, but this is what he said...

"And the scoreboard is flashing, 'Domo arrigato, Mister Delgado!' I don't speak a word of Spanish, but... ."

Well done sir. I was thinking he looked like Jason Giambi's skinny cousin.

I also had not realized that this guy was the same one who played Mickey Mantle in Billy Crystal's tedious* 61*.

Stand up f you guessed that, when the Mets dealt Anderson Hernandez for Luis Ayala, the winner of the trade might be decided by the two facing each other with the game on the line, with Ayala as the Mets closer and Hernandez as the Washington leadoff batter, with three runs batted in already in the game, as he sports a .372 batting average.

Because I didn't think that.

What, you didn't see that AHearn-Alaya thing coming? I think I predicted that right after I said Carlos Delgado would go nuts and carry the team on his back for two months.

Um, don't go searching in the archives too long....

The fish are one out away from a 10-8 victory over the Phillies.

Arthur Rhodes gets Utley on an infiled pop up then strikes out Howard. Lindstrom in to face Burrell with no one on. Fly ball to left center....and the Marlins win!!

The way Delgado's swinging, you could move the fences back 50 feet and it wouldn't make any difference. Amazing.

Gwreck
Sep 09 2008 09:57 PM

Fun game to attend. Seems that Oliver's problems are usually control oriented. Tonight, he just got hit hard (6 in a row at the end). I give it an "eh" as long as he bounces back next start.

Delgado's homers were announced as 450 and 395 feet, respectively.

Luis Aguayo is almost making me long for Sandy Alomar. (Certainly Ken Oberkfell, at least).

What was up with the call at the end of the 8th inning? Seemed like the ump took forever to call Beltran out on strikes and then the interference call (?) seemed bogus.
