Hairston homers in the fifth against Sabathia. Reds lead 3-1. Are the Brewers reeling? They need to get it together by TOMORROW or the Phillies will destroy them.

Phils-Marlins (Myers vs. Nolasco) will get underway in a little over a half hour.

I'm all for the Brewers losing again today, I don't know how a win or a loss necessarily affects how they handle Philly so we may as well open up some daylight. having them behind us also makes them our ally if it comes to WildCardness, so lose lose lose I say.

If I didn't have a stake in it, the potential for a seven game series --- with both managers throwing Sabathia and Santana in games 1, 3, and 5 --- would be something.

duan
Sep 10 2008 01:37 PM

that would require us catching the cubs though; and i'd rather not have to face sabathia and sheets in a five game series.

As expressed in another thread, unlikely the NL wildcarder, whoever it is, gets much of a chance to set up their first-round rotation the way they want. More reason to root for a pileup.

I agree with that.

If the Brewers lose today and then turn on a dime and sweep the Phillies, then everything is perfect.

So I have mixed feelings. I'm glad they're losing, but I hope they start winning!

Yankees score one in the first in Anaheim. The Angels then match it with a single run in the bottom of the first.

THEN, somehow, the Yankees retroactively tack on another run in the top of the first.

I don't think I'm getting the straight scoop.

In Milwaukee, Reds are still up 3-1, top of the 7th.

And the Marlins-Phillies game is just underway.

HahnSolo
Sep 10 2008 02:19 PM

The Marlins manage to hit 2 doubles in the first without scoring (frowns).

Milwaukee plates a run in the 7th. 3-2.

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 10 2008 02:36 PM

Solo homer by Ryan Howard puts the Phillies up 1-0 in the second.

Centerfield
Sep 10 2008 02:38 PM

Brewers load the bases with no one out in the 8th.

Bad bad OoTS.

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 10 2008 02:42 PM

And they cash two of them in.

Brewers still batting, and they lead 4 to 3.

HahnSolo
Sep 10 2008 02:43 PM

Base hit by old friend Mike Cameron gives Brew Crew a 4-3 lead in the 8th.

I am too busy worrying about the rest of the regular season to worry about how the post season lines up.

Right now my thinking is that the Brewers should bury the Phils . . . I want them nice and hot going into that series. I guess they can lose until that point, but as long as they smack the Phils around I am happy.

Soloman Torres in the close against 8-9-1 for the Reds

]So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

LET'S GO FISH!

LET'S GO FISH!

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 10 2008 02:55 PM

And we have a final score from Milwaukee: Brewers beat the Reds 4-3.

Centerfield
Sep 10 2008 03:01 PM

's ok. Phils are losing. I'll take that.

HahnSolo
Sep 10 2008 03:05 PM

Myers leads off 3rd with double, then Nolasco strands him by getting Rollins, Werth and Utley.

HahnSolo
Sep 10 2008 03:14 PM

Nolasco "helps his own cause" as sportscasters are contracted to say, with an rbi single in the third. 3-1 Fish.

holychicken
Sep 10 2008 03:40 PM

And then he hurts his own cause by giving up two runs.

duan
Sep 10 2008 04:17 PM

runners at the corners with one out for the fish in the eight.

duan
Sep 10 2008 04:19 PM

*grrrrrr* ground rule double down the line scores only one run. cause of Fan interference.
dirty philidelphians saving their team a run.

duan
Sep 10 2008 04:21 PM

phillies issue two walks to then load bases to bring up our good buddy Paul LaDuca who grounds into inning ending double play.

duan
Sep 10 2008 04:23 PM

by the way it seems like the fan got escorted away by police - that's a bit harsh isn't it?

KC
Sep 10 2008 04:27 PM

The thing that sucks is the ump blew the call, the guy didn't touch the ball.

The rule of interfering with the game is pretty black and white, it's not harsh
to escort that guy out. I find it maddening that people are stupid enough to
reach over a railing and try to touch a baseball that is in play. If the Phils end
up winning the knucklehead will be on some local radio/tv show. Dick.

in other news yankees are trying to stay alive against fish with 2 on with 2 out in the top of the 9th down by two runs.

duan

duan

Marlins score 2! Dan Uggla doubles in 2 runs.

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 10 2008 04:43 PM

Howard, Burrell, Victorino due up in the ninth.

Harsh maybe, but I am pretty sure they warn you before hand that reaching onto the field is prohibited. The fan should at least be thrown out of the game.

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 10 2008 04:46 PM

Helms singles home Uggla. 7-3 Marlins.

duan
Sep 10 2008 04:46 PM

and Jimmy Rollins isn't so fucking good going back after a flare and lets another run score.

7-3 bottom of the ninth.

Charlie Manuel totally over managed in that inning making 2 pitching changes neither of which worked out.

duan
Sep 10 2008 04:52 PM

and the phillies go down 1,2,3 in the ninth!

As I've said, any day that the magic number drops is a good day, so today is already a good day.

And the Mets now have a chance to make it a great day.

Good enough to see some of the worst, most ineffective Presidents in the history of the US, or are we still edging on the side of caution?

I'm good either way.

Elster88

With no one out and a man on first tied in the bottom of the 12, David Ortiz just bunted.

Now that....is stupid.
