Nice of Milledge to let Beltran's RBI hit drop in by positioning himself in CitiField

Sep 10 2008 05:32 PM

I had my heart in my throat as Tatis jumped for that drive by Milledge.

TransMonk
Sep 10 2008 05:33 PM

I like 2 out rallies. Even if they only score one run.

Tatis says, "If your going to play a shitty outfield, at least make the play, Milledge."

duan
Sep 10 2008 05:33 PM

Mike Pelfrey's got a little more driveable last two games.

TransMonk
Sep 10 2008 05:34 PM

Fucking Dukes.

bmfc1
Sep 10 2008 05:42 PM

When the Mets "style" after a homerun, it's a big story but I guess other teams feel like they can do it. To me, it looked like Dukes blew kisses toward the Mets dugout and was smiling and yukking it up for several minutes in the dugout.

I'm digging those Independence Day Weekend Caps with the pinstripes. Great touch.

Something doesn't look right with those Mets caps. Dark Blue or is my TV totally messed up?

Those are the Independence Day Weekend caps that MLB used during, well, Independence Day Weekend this year, the Mets were in Philly.

Dark blue cap, the logo has the flag inlaid on it with a very dominating (on video) white border.

They are called "Stars and Stripes On-Field Cap"

Tomorrow is the anniversary of 9/11, and representatives of the NYPD and NYFD pulled the countdown number from 12 to 11 before the game.

Farmer Ted
Sep 10 2008 06:08 PM

Being used today for 9/11 remembrance purposes I suppose. Good use for them. I liked the NYPD hats.

TransMonk
Sep 10 2008 06:12 PM

One out rallies are nice, too.

Tough to overstate how much Tatis bailed the team out this summer.

Hard not to like how this is going.

Frayed Knot
Sep 10 2008 06:16 PM

Got away with this time but that was another bad send IMO.
Yeah you're winning and can afford to be more agressive but LFer had the ball before Tatis had even reached 3rd

bmfc1
Sep 10 2008 06:24 PM

That was for what I mentioned earlier. Ray Knight is doing color for MASN and said "that's the way the game is played" and Dukes "doesn't understand what it takes to be a major league player."

metirish
Sep 10 2008 06:39 PM

Dukes is a low class prick , the pitch "inside" wasn't even that close.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2008 07:11 PM

Time to get the offense cranked up again. I like seeing the Mets with a (bigger) cushion going in to the late innings.

Ugh. Getting flashbacks.

Sep 10 2008 07:25 PM

How 'bout that Heilman?

TransMonk
Sep 10 2008 07:28 PM

F'n shocker.

I really root for the guy every time he goes out there. But he has been burned SO many times.

Ugh.

You just can't be walking that first guy, jeez.

bmfc1
Sep 10 2008 07:31 PM

The only times Jerry can use Heilman from now on are: 10-1, either way, 9th inning; and the day after they clinch. Other than that, he can watch the game like the rest of us.

Get a hit, buddy!

metirish

Two nice plays by Daybidrye , the one to end the inning was great.
comebacker hits of Joe's glove and Wright charges and makes the bare handed pick and throw to first.

Rally!

What is Milledge doing?

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 10 2008 07:51 PM

Just getting here.

Freaking Heilman.

But I know we can win this, especially already knowing that the Phils have lost.

Men at the corners for the red hot Delgado. Right man for the situation.

KC
Sep 10 2008 07:53 PM

Lastings really has no business being a centerfielder.

metirish
Sep 10 2008 07:55 PM

At what point is it the coaches fault for Lastings playing so deep?

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2008 07:56 PM

Bases jammed for Schneider. Time for the Schneid to break this game open.

KC
Sep 10 2008 07:57 PM

I know, but I don't mean just his positioning.

A couple more runs here would be sweet!!!!

Busted open by the Schneid.

Eventually these last place teams reveal themselves.

Christian Guzman has 3 HRs in this series.

11 should be enough, but more insurance runs sure would be nice with the top of the order up.

September games against the Nationals are as tough as playing the Phillies. Next week's 4 games are scary.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2008 08:19 PM

In my anguish and frustration I originally posted this in the wrong thread.

Guzman can cut out his Delgado impression any time.

This team is causing me to lose what little sdense I still have left. Top of the order needs to help bail out the pen here and give them a safer lead.

He was doing the same thing early in the season - so Acta must want him there either by direct order or at least tacit approval.

Gwreck
Sep 10 2008 10:04 PM

Reyes gave a nice cap tip to the fans when the announcement was made on the scoreboard.

Ugly, ugly win.

The Stars and Stripes cap is stupid and should be banned even faster than the black hats.

The New York agency caps are so not stupid (even if the flaming FDNY caps are goofy loud) and I hate to think they're done wearing those.

I took my son last night.

We had a good time because ultimately the damn thing ended the right way.

There was a guy sitting in the seat in front of us who looked really familiar. We were high fiving after big hits and generally being 'fan-friendly' toward each other but even though I thought he looked familiar I couldn't place him.

Then somebody asked him something and gave him a ball to sign. The guy signed it and that was that. After the game ended we got up to leave and a few more people recognized him and asked him for autographs. Apparently he was - or everybody thought he was - Roger Federer.

I'm not so sure. The guy definitely resmbled Federer but I think he was just getting a kick out of people thinking he was and decided to pretend he was and sign.

Did they show him or mention that Federer was there last night on TV?

Was that so hard?

Thank you Mr. irish. Now I don't feel bad about telling my son not to ask the guy for an autograph.

I figured if it really was him:

1 - They'd have at least showed/mentioned that he was there, if not actually had him throw out the first pitch or something.

2 - He would've had better seats.

Which explains why the Mets were decked in the Stars & Stripes caps. New Era and MLB puts these shiny new products out, and considering the Met organization is a slave to such edicts from MLB, they'll wear what MLB and New Era wants the consumer to buy.

Consumers are not rushing out to buy the Agency caps, I mean I'm sure you could find some, but they are hard to find, and more importantly, not made by New Era or licensed by MLB.

I do like them though, to each their own.

KC

SJR: considering the Met organization is a slave to such edicts from MLB, they'll wear what MLB and New Era wants the consumer to buy <<<

It's not metscentric, all teams are wearing them today and the teams that
don't play today wore them yesterday.

31D and no, they're not shitty at all.

But the VIPS are usually right on the field or behind the plate. My seats are like 7-8 rows from the field.

Doh! For the life of me I could not figure out why the Mets were wearing them on the 10th and not the 11th.

Ask your self this:

Is this game on FOX? No? So they are probably showing the action on the field and not possible celebrities in the stands.

PS Who is Roger Federer anyway? James Bond?

Considered by many to be the:

Seriously, has the all-time record for most majors one, I'm sure he is among the top winners of all time and has had quite a run.
