I thought Elster was going for something else there, actually, but I didn't know how to post it without making Val look silly. Let's try that again.

Mark Grace is a cliché spewing machine , not as annoying as he usually is though , thanks Howie.

Howie's right. Santana does not appear sharp. But no runs yet. No score as we go bottom 3
|
Frayed Knot Sep 13 2008 02:54 PM |
He's missing his spots and taking more pitches than you'd like to see.
|
HahnSolo Sep 13 2008 03:01 PM |
Tatis has to come in and make a play on that foul ball. Seems too tentative with Reyes coming back on it.
|
HahnSolo Sep 13 2008 03:02 PM |
And with new life, Kotchman singles. oy.
|
themetfairy Sep 13 2008 03:09 PM |
OK - Atlanta didn't score.
|
HahnSolo Sep 13 2008 03:16 PM |
3 singles and a walk make it 1-0. bases loaded noboby out in the 4th with the Schnied up.
|
HahnSolo Sep 13 2008 03:17 PM |
Run scores on a Schnieder DP. 2-0.
|
DocTee Sep 13 2008 03:27 PM |
Bases juiced with none away and we only plate two-- could be haunting.
|
metsmarathon Sep 13 2008 03:29 PM |
mark grace really is not pleasing to the ears. how the hell do they go about hiring awful, awful announcers like him?
|
metsguyinmichigan Sep 13 2008 03:54 PM |
How did Easley just "ground to the catcher" as gametracker called it?
|
bmfc1 Sep 13 2008 03:59 PM |
MGIM-5-2-3 DP. Ugh.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 13 2008 04:01 PM |
Brent Lillibridge.

|
Damn, could have used some runs there.
|
bmfc1 Sep 13 2008 04:04 PM |
When Church went back for that fly ball, he looked behind him--I wonder if he thought of the ball he missed against Florida.

I think Grace had the rep as a player of being "colorful", maybe because he was often going out with some good-looking babes. I think network execs look at that kind of stuff and say; "Hey, this guy would be great on TV" That said, while he's certainly not Mr. Excitement out there, he hasn't said anything particularly dopey today ... at least not yet.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 13 2008 04:21 PM |
Not Johan's best day, but I'm not going to argue with 7 inning shutouts.

According to the advertisers for FOX baseball, their viewer is a man, who has ED, prostate problems, and heartburn.

2 on nobody out, and here comes Shoew.
|
HahnSolo Sep 13 2008 04:23 PM |
BAgs drunk now thanks to a Kotchman single. Stokes coming to face Francoeur.
|
HahnSolo Sep 13 2008 04:26 PM |
And we are tied. Ug.
|
metsguyinmichigan Sep 13 2008 04:28 PM |
Rats, I knew that bases-loaded-no-outs screw-up would haunt.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 13 2008 04:28 PM |
Their bases-loaded ground balls found holes, ours didn't.
|
HahnSolo Sep 13 2008 04:29 PM |
Omar Infante sac fly. 3-2 Atl.
|
bmfc1 Sep 13 2008 04:30 PM |
And they got a SF with the bases loaded--the Mets hit into a DP (Easley).
|
metsguyinmichigan Sep 13 2008 04:31 PM |
Santana's gotta be pulling his hair out with this bunch.

He also earned a rep through interviews on shows like Jim Rome where he would frequently tell R, and sometimes X rated stories from the locker room (It's Grace who gets credit for bringing the "Slump Buster" out in the open). So his Crash Davis/Jim Bouton mentality probably gave execs the idea that he'd be great for their "target" audience.

I want two happy outcomes today, but it's not looking good.

The guy in the TV commercial.

Good descriptions , every time I see him I think of the big German guy form "Die Hard".

Overall yeah, but that inning was as much on him as his relief. He gave up two liners to start the inning. The relievers got the grounders they wanted but both were soft rollers which simply found holes.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 13 2008 04:50 PM |
Would have been nice to get some runners in the 8th if only to turn the lineup over back to the top.
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 13 2008 04:57 PM |
This would be an ideal time for a bloop and a blast.
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 13 2008 04:59 PM |
Nope.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 13 2008 04:59 PM |
Bases-loaded/no-outs twice = 1 run
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 13 2008 05:00 PM |
Mets lose and Phillies win, virtually simultaneously.
|
Rockin' Doc Sep 13 2008 05:14 PM |
This was a bad beat. Santana went out and pitched as an ace is expected to do, but the offense let him down. Too many squandered chances came back to bite the Mets.
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 13 2008 05:14 PM |
The Mets offense, that is.
|
holychicken Sep 13 2008 05:17 PM |
Now THAT was a good old fashion 2007 collapse game.
