Legendary Hotness

I forget where I read this but some Blue Jays fan wrote on the Interweb one time that the team that acquired Delgado would acquire a guy who at times will get so hot you wonder how they ever got him out.

This latest barrage -- 4 HRs in 2 games, all off lefties?? -- has to qualify.

Anywhoo like with the long HRs, anyone with some memories of legendary Met hotness streaks?

Right now I am thinking of Wright, early in 2006, where it seemed like he doubled to the gap in every turn at bat.

How come I can't steal photos from fafif?

Beltran in 2006 had a very hot stretch , in fact he was one half of the trivia answer during lasts nights game.

I don't remember the question properly but he hit for a torrid pace at one point , similar to Delgado now.

Gregg Jefferies for two weeks in 1988 after his call-up (Aug 28-Sept 12):

Daniel Murphy last month.

Kingman in mid-April 1982 and again on west coast in July.

Edgardo Alfonzo, bunched around the time he went six-for-six.

George Foster in May 1986, after a terrible April and preceding an indifferent June.

Mazzilli, I think, the July of the blackout.

Dwight Gooden the second half of 1985.

Olerud in '98. Seemed like he was 2 for 3 with a walk every night.

Mazzilli I had wrong. It was July, 1980.

I think I missed the gist of this question.

Tatis for a week solid was hot.

Benitez--for all the blame he got--had an incredible run one year.

(Sorry for the lack of details and memory-- dashing off to work)

Foster's 1986 rip seems to have gone from May 18 to abut June 5.

I don't think you can name a thread "Legendary Hotness" and not include Lynda Carter.

I remember stretches where Darryl Strawberry was locked in, probably in 1987 and 1988.

Don't have the dates though.

Straw June-early July '90, Mike a couple of stretches in 2000 in the first half, Kingman for home runs before the All-Star Break in '76, Derek Bell April/May 2000.

But this, given the timing and context and impact and wow! factor, has been unprecedented.
