I take back any bad thing I ever said about my brother.

Your brother's Richard Belzer?

Way cool, man.

That's Malcom's dad, right?

That's a nice wedding gift :)

AG/DC

And Ollie's dad.

Patron of the Blue Tarp Lounge.

I can see it now AG: one night next week, D-Wright blasts one out of Nats Park, looks to the crowd, and yells, that's for AG/DC!

Even more cool: your brother bowls!

Wow. My brother hasn't given me a wedding gift yet and we celebrated 10 years last July.

I can't believe you have a myspace page

AG/DC
Sep 10 2008 10:26 AM

Oh, shut up.

I just created it to upload my boyfriend's video.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 10 2008 10:34 AM

I'm just jealous. I want to go bowling with Daybidrye.

AG/DC

Couldn't you have just put it on YouTube?

AG/DC
Sep 10 2008 11:14 AM

Is that what the kids are doing these days? I thought YouTube was just for eighties videos and tranny porn.

I've never done it. Let me try.

Bam!

Sep 10 2008 11:30 AM

You know, nobody's asked the question yet... how did your brother and Daybidrye wind up at the same bowling alley at the same time?

Kong76
Sep 10 2008 11:38 AM

Edge, you can open a youtube account with our cranepoolforum gmail
sign-on info. Is that really your brother? I mean I only met him that once
but I don't remember him looking like that for some reason.

AG/DC
Sep 10 2008 11:38 AM

I'm sure David made a point of finding a way to send me his wishes.

Actually, it hasn't been explained to me, but the David Wright Foundation hosts a bowling event for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Arthur's son Oliver is beneficiary of the MDA, so I assume he got a little extra access.

Think of my nephew Ollie the next time MDA approaches you.

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 10 2008 11:50 AM

THAT....IS....AWESOME!!!!

And I'm totally not surprised that Wright would say, "OK, I'll do that!"

AG/DC
Sep 10 2008 11:58 AM

According to my brother, he asked DW if he could do him a favor.

Now, any sensible New York celebrity would say, "Um... what kind of favor?" but Dabidrye said, "Sure!"

Arthur mentioned he'd like him to send me a wedding greeting and asked, "Now, how would you go about that kind of thing? Do I get in touch with your office?"

The Gold Glover said, "Why don't we just do this with a quick video?"

They knocked it off in one take --- I assume the event had a videographer but maybe that was just done with Keith Miller's cameraphone --- and then he scuttled off agreeably to do promos for a Korean faith healer, a Nigerian widow, and Fannie Mae.

To paraphrase what I believe is an old Asian proverb - we live in interesting times.

Anybody anywhere these days can whip out their phone or camera and shoot a quick vid, post it on the intranets and - BAM - its everywhere.

I find it amazing.

I can't wait to watch it at home , I am impressed though.

Daybidrye - am I the only one who didn't know that this was D-Wright's nickname , does Val know?

The youtube video doesn't work for you either?

Where do you work? Rikers?

I think it was Johnny Lunchbucket's son who came up with that one.

Yep, Daybidrye is his favorite batball player.

Ah yes , that's where I saw it before , and something about Reyes too IIRC.

I like it.

I wonder if Valadius is embarrassed that a toddler outdoes him when it comes to nicknames with staying power.

Valadius
Sep 10 2008 12:33 PM

Very cool, Edgy!

And I could care less who comes up with the best nicknames. Whatever works is fine with me. I just come up with them to amuse myself.

Can you imagine what would happen if someone approached Jeter with a request like that?

Assuming you could get through the human wall of security goons, do you think Jeter's first response would be to demand payment?

Benjamin Grimm

Well, I know what Mariano Rivera would do: He'd turn water into wine and bring your pet goldfish back to life.

The downside is that the video wedding wishes I taped for you with Kelvin Champman is going to seem, well, lacking.

Surely you know me better than that.

Daybirye, meanwhile, is a perfect 4-for-4 since he shared his love with me.

I think your brother looks a bit like Anthony Bourdain.

I thought that too. A mix between Anthony Bourdain and Richard Belzer.

I don't know this Bordain cat. It sounds like a polling subject. Include pictures.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

I think Bourdain is a riot but he's also a major MFY fan.

A little fatter around the cheeks than your brother I think.

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 11 2008 07:30 AM

="John Cougar Lunchbucket"]I think Bourdain is a riot but he's also a major MFY fan.

I love his show. I've seen him eat all kinds of gross things (that's not why I love his show, by the way) but the only time I ever squirmed while watching was when he went to the Bronx and gave a five-minute loving tribute to Yankee Stadium.

Ewww.

He has, though, inspired me to try all kinds of food where I might have hesitated in the past. It's rare that I get any kind of inspiration at all from TV people, so in that respect, Anthony Bourdain has been somewhat influential in my life. And when my formerly picky son (now 11) tries something different, I tell him, "Anthony Bourdain would be proud of you!"

I just wish he wasn't a Yankee fan. (Bourdain, that is. Both my children are fully schooled in the evilness of the Yankee empire.)

John Cougar Lunchbucket

I don't know if you've ever seen him be a guest judge on Top Chef but he just kills whenever he appears.

I like him a lot , seems like a real down to earth guy but at the same time oozes cool.

One of my favorite shows was in Uzbekistan where Bourdain went through what seemed like torture from a masseur.

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 11 2008 07:42 AM

I liked that Uzbekistan show too. It was also very funny when he had to buy a gift for a new baby. I forget what the gift was, but it was unusual (by American standards) and it was fun watching him try to put aside his own reservations and pick out the right item.

(I wish I remembered what it was!)
