Mike & Mike & Mike (Ditka) calling the Oakland/Denver game. My mute button works. Commentators should not scream out "Ahhhhhh no!" when a player just misses a catch. I'm looking back fondly on Kornheiser's Favre-talk.

I enjoyed when they were discussing Al Davis and how he rules the team with an iron fist...and then they panned to the owners box and showed a dude who looked like he was about 112. I've heard he was an asshole but the juxtaposition was hilarious.

So Met fans aren't the only jerks out there. Apparently the Patriots got booed as the lost for the first time in 22 regular season games.

But all you <strike>fans</strike> assholes out there don't forget: It's your right to boo!

the "boo birds" at shea have nothing on the chargers crowd tonight. with a 30-3 lead in the 4th quarter they spent a solid 2 minutes booing the officials for not overturning a call that went against them

Nope, you're not alone. I didn't expect mediocrity, but I expected them to be a little more human. They've been like a machine.
And, as a Jets fan, their performance in 2008 is killin' me.

Maybe Michael Strahan!

Frayed Knot
Nov 16 2008 12:54 PM

When you consider that at about this time last season even many (if not most) Giant fans were convinced that they had both the wrong coach and the wrong quarterback to even be a contender much less have a SB run followed by an 11-week stretch where they're a top team in the league, then yeah, I think it's safe to say that there are a lot of people who are surprised.

And then if you told them that they'd do much of this without Barber, Strahan, Shockey and (for the time being) Umenyora ...

Oooh that one's gonna hurt.

The flip side of winning one when you least expect it (see: Giants, NY/J - circa 2007/8) is that it hurts that much more when that kind of season is followed up by losing one many had already penciled (if not penned) into the win column.

Guess the NFL can put their emergency plan for when the Jets & Giants both host conference championships aside for now.

G-Fafif
Jan 11 2009 03:31 PM

Crummy way to go out, but there are no good ways to go out. Been a while since a team I rooted for (however lightly I root at football relative to baseball) was eliminated in a playoff round while defending a championship. It makes that cold night in Green Bay/on Long Island 51 weeks ago feel that much more immense. Super Bowl XLII, too, I suppose, but I find myself thinking of the NFC Championship and how utterly surprising it was to realize the Giants had won and would be moving on. There was nothing the Giants could do this time around that was going to match that sensation, so this one gets filed under "when's pitchers and catchers...?"

I lean Blue, but I've had plenty of Green moments, and I hope the serious Jets fans get one of what I've been lucky enough to experience three times soon.

Arizona reaching the Supe reduces the number of teams never to reach the final game during the SB era to 5: Browns, Jaguars, Texans, Lions & Saints
Nine others have reached it only once.

Count back the last 43 World Series and you'll find 4 teams (Expos/Nats, Cubs, Mariners & Senators/Rangers) who never got there plus 7 more who made just one trip.
