... or did y'all just find a better way to deals with auto-trolls?

The only reason I'm asking is that the same 'Last guy registered' name has been up there since, like forever, whereas we used to get a dozen new names or more per day.

Now granted 99+% of those were phonies and it has to be a pain in the ass to delete them all the time, but I'd hate to think that we've either closed the entry process entirely or made it so complicated that we're discouraging potential new blood.

The auto-trolls can't register because of server side security that
we have nothing to do with. Problem is, that security also seems
to have made the "regular" registration links not work. In order
for that to change I think they want us to upgrade the board soft-
ware version. I figured since most everything else works and the
board is down so infrequently it's just as easy for someone to
email us. Between my blackberry and laptop I'm more accessible
than running water and no one has emailed.

So what's changed recently to where we're no longer getting bombarded with sex-tape peddlers and pharmacuetical come-ons?

This happened quite some time ago, and I changed the up top like a day or
so after it happened. If someone wants to post and can't follow the simple
directions that would probably be answered the same day then I don't know
what to do.

Is the message up top unclear?

Nope.
It just struck me that I was no longer seeing a new phony newbie every couple hours and wanted to make sure we hadn't accidently (or purposely) slammed the door shut on real ones in the process.

Whatever. I ain't gonna go on about it with someone who usually is tuned
into poor reading comprehension and then is ignoring parts of my explanation
and then saying the same thing over again after it's been spelled out twice.

There were days when the number of false-registrants would be 30-40 first
thing in the morning and then another two dozen during the day. If Ben
Grimm didn't provide a handy ass-removal utility I might have gone nuts.
