Gwreck Sep 21 2008 11:44 AM |
2000th hit for Delgado is an RBI double to give us a 1-0 lead.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 11:49 AM |
Could break it open in the 1st as this rook pitcher is wavering.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 11:51 AM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Sep 21 2008 11:52 AM |
I can't believe Castillo took either of those pitches!!
Zvon Sep 21 2008 11:51 AM |
Take til they call a strike.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 11:53 AM |
yea, esp that ball 4. That was >< close. Id rather see him take tho. And I don't say that about too many batters.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 12:08 PM |
Hit by pitch scores a run. Bear down, Pelf!
TransMonk Sep 21 2008 12:08 PM |
This looks like it could be a long game.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:08 PM |
Whats that home plate umps problem? Why did he go out to the mound so fast during that meeting?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 21 2008 12:18 PM |
BIG HR for Wright there.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:19 PM |
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 12:19 PM |
KABOOM D-WRIGHT!!!!
themetfairy Sep 21 2008 12:20 PM |
I love that boy :)
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:22 PM |
Delgado is wikkedhawt.
seawolf17 Sep 21 2008 12:23 PM |
[arod]You know, Wright only hit that home run because there was nobody in scoring position. If they'd moved Pelfrey to second, he would have popped up weakly to third.[/arod]
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 12:24 PM |
Wright sez: Slump THIS!
Gwreck Sep 21 2008 12:27 PM |
Wayne is noting on the radio broadcast that Pelfrey looks very much "not sharp" today. Suspects possibly that he's got a cold/allergies.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 12:27 PM |
Delgado has another decent year next year and ends up with 500+ homers and 2100+ hits, they're going to have to consider him for Cooperstown.
Gwreck Sep 21 2008 12:29 PM |
Well, there was Toronto, too.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 21 2008 12:29 PM |
Grrrr. Get the batters out, Mike
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 12:32 PM |
Yeah, I was just being optimistic. I'm make Rickey Henderson, Tom Glavine and Pedro all wear Mets caps, too! Which is why I'm not in charge of such things.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 12:34 PM |
DP saves us again. But the offense seems to be rolling today, and we'll be up against the Braves pen the whole rest of the way.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:35 PM |
Another nice DP.
SteveJRogers Sep 21 2008 12:37 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Sep 21 2008 12:52 PM |
Double Plays Induced I'm going to guess?
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:38 PM |
That sounds better.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:46 PM |
I hat Prado.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 12:48 PM |
What's with Spanish guys named Vladimir? -- Nunez, Guerrero
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:49 PM |
There is no doubt that pelf does not look sharp.
seawolf17 Sep 21 2008 12:50 PM |
Classic shot of Gary snoozing in the booth!
Zvon Sep 21 2008 12:53 PM |
Stop swinging at carp J Reyes.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:05 PM |
Pelf keeps wiggling out of jams.
seawolf17 Sep 21 2008 01:14 PM |
Hey! I'm Mike Piazza! Cool!
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 01:17 PM |
Need a nice settle-down inning here from Pelfrey.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 01:19 PM |
Kinda like that.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:19 PM |
As you wish! Now lets see some insurance runs before we turn this over to the pen.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:19 PM |
seriously. If we could get 7 and hold this lead I'll be very happy with what Pelf has given us. And he does have that nice 5th.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 01:20 PM |
Anybody want to start a Vet's HoF thread has my permission.
seawolf17 Sep 21 2008 01:21 PM |
Good idea. I'll split those out.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:24 PM |
Do we pull Pelf for a pinch-hitter here?
SteveJRogers Sep 21 2008 01:24 PM |
..
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:27 PM |
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:28 PM |
Keep him in to bunt?
seawolf17 Sep 21 2008 01:28 PM |
Jeez. Bill Hahn's moustache makes him look like he's in Witness Protection.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:30 PM |
Damn.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:31 PM |
Pelf is not a good bunter. But better that than hit a weak grounder into a DP.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 01:31 PM |
Gary throws out a 'You don't mess around with Bill' comment that no one either picked up on or just didn't respond to ... but I'm sure he was going for a reference to Hahn looking like Jim Croce and his 'You Don't Mess Around with Jim' album.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:32 PM |
Horrible. A guy walks the first two batters, and Reyes and Murph are up there swinging at the first pitch to make outs.
seawolf17 Sep 21 2008 01:34 PM |
Gary obviously ate his Special Edition Pop Culture Cheerios this morning.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:34 PM |
Heres a color corrected Mookie Edge if you shud look in.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:34 PM |
I knew my av would change just at that post, lol.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:36 PM |
I wanna say Pelf has settled down but I don't wanna jinx him so I wont type and post this.
KC Sep 21 2008 01:43 PM |
HEY BELTRAN SWING THE FARGIN BAT!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:43 PM |
Same set-up as last inning. Let's make 'em pay this time.
TheOldMole Sep 21 2008 01:44 PM |
We know we'll need the runs.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:44 PM |
Wasted at bat by Beltran.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:46 PM |
UGH
John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 21 2008 01:47 PM |
Ummm, the Mets suck.
KC Sep 21 2008 01:47 PM |
That was one of those loser innings. Beltran and Church playing like losers.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:49 PM |
Terrible. We need to feast on the Braves' sucky bully. Now we need our sometimes sucky bully to stand tough.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:54 PM |
Or not. Here comes Stokes.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 01:55 PM |
But he don't last.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 01:59 PM |
I fear those last two innings are gonna cost us.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 02:01 PM |
The Braves apparently know how to sacrifice.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:02 PM |
I hat Prado, but he may have helped us there swingin at that high pitch.
seawolf17 Sep 21 2008 02:02 PM |
You know? I was about to ask if the Mets led the league in pitching changes. Thanks for the info, Gary. Not only does he lurk here, he apparently also lurks in my mind.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:04 PM |
MORE RUNS!
KC Sep 21 2008 02:07 PM |
sw17: Thanks for the info, Gary<<<
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 02:09 PM |
"the Mets scored all their runs in the first two innings"
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 02:13 PM |
Is that Marlon Anderson's first hit this month?
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:15 PM |
I remember a day I looked foward to him pinch hitting. Those days are gooooone. Phils game is underway in Florida.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:15 PM |

Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 02:21 PM |
YOU GOTTA BE FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!!
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:22 PM |
You believe that?
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 02:22 PM |
Son of a bitch! Freaking Schoenweis is TERRIBLE>
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 02:24 PM |
The key to this game might have been Pelfrey's inability to drop a bunt with none out and two on.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 02:24 PM |
I hope someone explains to Pelfrey that the reson he didn't get a win today is that he couldn't get down a bunt.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:26 PM |
That string bean Lillybridge steals second
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:27 PM |
And Francoeur triples him in.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 02:27 PM |
DAMMIT! They ALL suck.
metirish Sep 21 2008 02:28 PM |
Hey Mets
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:28 PM |
All the Sunday games that I get to watch seem to go like this anymore.
HahnSolo Sep 21 2008 02:29 PM |
We're about to go 1-8 at Turner Field. The Phils? 9-0.
TransMonk Sep 21 2008 02:29 PM |
MLB.TV stayed with the SNY feed a little too long during the pitching change.
bmfc1 Sep 21 2008 02:31 PM |
The mlb.tv feed didn't go away after Gary threw it to the commercial. Ronnie said "Jerry treats this bullpen like they're the last kids picked in dodgeball." I'm not sure what that means.
bmfc1 Sep 21 2008 02:31 PM |
Hi TransMonk!
OlerudOwned Sep 21 2008 02:32 PM |
I'm suddenly glad I didn't go to this game.

TheOldMole Sep 21 2008 02:33 PM |
Heilman inspire confidence?
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:34 PM |

Not in me.
lol. I needed a laugh.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 02:36 PM |

It means he's selecting each of them reluctantly and because there are no other better choices.
bmfc1 Sep 21 2008 02:38 PM |
Got it. Thanks, FK.

Sometimes they take turns sucking, and sometimes they all suck at the same time.
duan Sep 21 2008 02:40 PM |
this is shocking.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 02:40 PM |

What's shocking is that it's not shocking at all.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:42 PM |

That is so true FK. :(
bmfc1 Sep 21 2008 02:42 PM |
And with that, we return to the bullpen sucks days of... last Sunday. Two Sundays in a row, the bullpen has taken victory and literally thrown it away. They tried on Wednesday but couldn't cough up a 8-1 lead, pitched fine for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but couldn't do their jobs today. None of them.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:43 PM |
Thank you Mr Murphy for ending that horrible inning.
Willets Point Sep 21 2008 02:43 PM |
Oh man, reruns again?!? They showed this game last Sunday.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:45 PM |
This Braves relief pitcher makes me seasick.
bmfc1 Sep 21 2008 02:46 PM |
I'm off to my son's game. For the 2d Sunday in a row, he's going to look at me from the dugout and I'll have to tell him the score via a thumbs down. Ugh.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 02:46 PM |
Distraught.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:47 PM |
May your son have a great game! :)
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 02:48 PM |
Doesn't help when 1-2 in the lineup put up an 0-10
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:50 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Sep 21 2008 02:50 PM |
You see that look Wright gave Gonzales after that curve ball 4?
TheOldMole Sep 21 2008 02:50 PM |
Do we have a chance now?
KC Sep 21 2008 02:50 PM |
Don't touch that dial quite yet boys and girls.
HahnSolo Sep 21 2008 02:50 PM |
I take some satisfaction at finally hitting this guy.
Frayed Knot Sep 21 2008 02:50 PM |
Unfortunately the Braves understand the value of tack-on runs
Zvon Sep 21 2008 02:52 PM |
Utley puts the Phils on the board w/a 2 run blast in the 3rd.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 02:57 PM |
We can only hope that the Cubs are still hungover from their clinching and start their second and third strings.
KC Sep 21 2008 02:57 PM |
Oh well, our cookie crumbles a little more. I'm not sure I want to go through
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2008 03:00 PM |
Puking.
Zvon Sep 21 2008 03:12 PM |
A wackjob. I do want post season games for this last season at Shea. Even if its a fleeting thing.
Met Hunter Sep 21 2008 03:45 PM |
April 2009. Somebody gets drilled. Chipper. McCann, Frenchy. Someone. Because I can't stand Gonzalez and his rocking motion. Ronnie seemed like he wished he could deliver that message personally.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 21 2008 03:59 PM |
We got exactly what we deserved.
metirish Sep 21 2008 04:14 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Sep 21 2008 05:52 PM |
Nothing surprising here , just disappointment is what I feel right now. I'm getting in the mind set of the Mets not making it so as to not be hugely disappointed.
cooby Sep 21 2008 05:50 PM |
Willets Point. At long last.
