2000th hit for Delgado is an RBI double to give us a 1-0 lead.

Zvon
Sep 21 2008 11:49 AM

Could break it open in the 1st as this rook pitcher is wavering.

I can't believe Castillo took either of those pitches!!
(ball 3 or ball 4)

Zvon
Sep 21 2008 11:51 AM

Take til they call a strike.

2-0 on a bases loaded walk.

Zvon

yea, esp that ball 4. That was >< close.
Id rather see him take tho.
And I don't say that about too many batters.

Hit by pitch scores a run. Bear down, Pelf!

TransMonk

This looks like it could be a long game.

Zvon
Sep 21 2008 12:08 PM

Whats that home plate umps problem? Why did he go out to the mound so fast during that meeting?

Shit.
Pelfrey hits Infante with the bases loaded.

Followed by a BIG DP! YAY!

BIG HR for Wright there.

Delgado is wikkedhawt.
If you told me in June he'd have 108 RBI in Sept I would have escorted you off this planet.

seawolf17
Sep 21 2008 12:23 PM

[arod]You know, Wright only hit that home run because there was nobody in scoring position. If they'd moved Pelfrey to second, he would have popped up weakly to third.[/arod]

Frayed Knot
Sep 21 2008 12:24 PM

Wright sez: Slump THIS!

Gary's not slumping in his quips today.
He mentioned the Atlanta pitcher being sub-Parr today
and that Delgado's hit #2001 means that his 'Odyssey' continues

Gwreck
Sep 21 2008 12:27 PM

Wayne is noting on the radio broadcast that Pelfrey looks very much "not sharp" today. Suspects possibly that he's got a cold/allergies.

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 21 2008 12:27 PM

Delgado has another decent year next year and ends up with 500+ homers and 2100+ hits, they're going to have to consider him for Cooperstown.

And he can wear a Mets cap on his plaque! Yes!

Gwreck
Sep 21 2008 12:29 PM

Well, there was Toronto, too.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Yeah, I was just being optimistic. I'm make Rickey Henderson, Tom Glavine and Pedro all wear Mets caps, too! Which is why I'm not in charge of such things.

metsguyinmichigan

DP saves us again. But the offense seems to be rolling today, and we'll be up against the Braves pen the whole rest of the way.

Zvon
Sep 21 2008 12:35 PM

Another nice DP.
For those not watching Pelf sets a record for...what do u call it?...
pitching into DPs in a season for the Mets.

There is no doubt that pelf does not look sharp.
He dodges 2 bullets in the 3rd and Prado is left 90 feet from the plate (and I don't mean 1st base).

Gary throws out a 'You don't mess around with Bill' comment that no one either picked up on or just didn't respond to ... but I'm sure he was going for a reference to Hahn looking like Jim Croce and his 'You Don't Mess Around with Jim' album.

And with that, we return to the bullpen sucks days of... last Sunday. Two Sundays in a row, the bullpen has taken victory and literally thrown it away.
