New York Mets
Frayed Knot Sep 25 2008 02:03 PM |
Facing Harden tonight, who's great while he's in there but throws as many pitches as Ollie getting through 5 and rarely last much longer. Plus Lou has no incentive to push him any longer.
G-Fafif Sep 25 2008 02:13 PM |
I may have to change Ramon Martinez's nickname from Afterthought. I swear when he came up last night, it was the first I remembered his being on the team since he did such a swell job pinch-running last week.
Benjamin Grimm Sep 25 2008 02:13 PM |
Must we do this? Instead of playing baseball, can't the Mets and the Cubs all go to the mall together and have a nice dinner in the food court?
Benjamin Grimm Sep 25 2008 02:14 PM |
Argenis Reyes gets his first hit in about five weeks and the next day he's booted from the lineup. He must be wondering, "What more do they want from me?"
holychicken Sep 25 2008 02:15 PM |
I wish I could just ignore it. Why can't I just ignore it? I just want to stop paying attention. That's all. Why won't I let myself do that? Do I have some kind of problem? Is it multiple problems?
soupcan Sep 25 2008 02:20 PM |
Multiple.
G-Fafif Sep 25 2008 02:20 PM |
I don't know if the chain or the mall still exist, but when the phrase food court comes up, I think of Taco Viva at the 163rd Street Mall in Miami Beach.
Benjamin Grimm Sep 25 2008 02:39 PM |
I won't be able to ignore it as much as I'd like to. I'll be checking in on the score but I'm NOT going to sit and watch this game. An inning or two at most, but that's IT.
themetfairy Sep 25 2008 02:52 PM |
I'll be at middle school back to school night tonight. The one thing in this world that's possibly more tortuous than the Mets.

Apparently Taco Viva is a thing of the past.

2 hour Survivor Premiere. Plus I think we get a new Office as well.
bmfc1 Sep 25 2008 03:53 PM |
Cancel (not Castro) replaces Schneider in the lineup. See the revised first post. No Derrek Lee. No Alfonso Soriano. No Aramis Ramirez.
KC Sep 25 2008 04:19 PM |
I'm gonna watch, watch parts of the Brewers game too I imagine.

Met fairy, it is quite obvious to me that you have never been to either a dance recital or a elementary school Christmas program. If the Mets continue to lose out the season, I will comfort myself with the thought that neither of those events will ever take up any of my time again. Small comfort, I know.
Frayed Knot Sep 25 2008 04:49 PM |
I'd be surprised if it's not raining within the hour.

Anyone else been hearing the car commercial with a female singing Bowie's Space Oddity , who is the singer?
bmfc1 Sep 25 2008 05:08 PM |
It's Cat Power.
Frayed Knot Sep 25 2008 05:12 PM |
The Brewers can't be happy about that Cubs lineup -- especially if they don't get a similar one this weekend.
mario25 Sep 25 2008 05:18 PM |
Please let it rain...Pedro being shelled early

David comes through with the sacrifice about 20 hours too late.

It's cool that Church gets a gift there. He needed it in the worst way. Mental wounds not healing

And Ryan asks for too much and goes off the rails with a caught stealing.

David Wright's RBI in the first inning tied him with Mike Piazza for the Mets record for RBIs in a season, with 124.

Who would have thought at the beginning of the year we would be fighting for a playoff spot with Dan Murphy in LF, Robinson Cancel at C, and Ramon Martinez at 2B

Not for nothing, but isn't Smith still the best bet in the seventh with men on?
mario25 Sep 25 2008 07:16 PM |
YES- I would say Smith or Stokes as the "crossover guy" as Manuel would say
Elster88 Sep 25 2008 07:17 PM |
I never thought we'd find someone fatter than Castro. I don't like Anderson hitting here.
mario25 Sep 25 2008 07:18 PM |
Will Marlon get a hit this season???
AG/DC Sep 25 2008 07:18 PM |
Cancel showing heart is something.
mario25 Sep 25 2008 07:21 PM |
Marlon should not be asked off the bench for the rest of the games left....
Elster88 Sep 25 2008 07:22 PM |
I'd argue that the results of an at-bat rarely show either heart or a lack of heart. Unless by showing heart you mean swinging the bat.
AG/DC Sep 25 2008 07:23 PM |
One run back.
AG/DC Sep 25 2008 07:24 PM |

Throw beat him by 15 ft - but the catcher was on his knees so Church twisted around him then dove back towards the plate just sneaking the hand in before a lunging tag.

Frayed Knot Sep 25 2008 08:03 PM |
Mix & match for now. Baseball Prospectus article today showing how the Mets pen had BY FAR the largest platoon differential when pitchers threw to their opposites: (LHPs to RHBs and vice versa). Feliciano gives up a seeing-eye single and here comes the signal for Smith. No more LHPs left anymore.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 25 2008 08:03 PM |

Mine is named "Tug." Stinking Feliciano. He should just wave the first batter he faces to first and save us all time.
Frayed Knot Sep 25 2008 08:04 PM |

Isn't three feet the rule? I think the rule is that the runner establishes a line as he runs and then can't deviate from that line by more than 3 feet. But that might be dated information.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 25 2008 08:51 PM |
It would take an umpire with huge stones to have called him out for that.
