Even if we don't play tonight at least somebody will. Tampa lost already and so need Boston to lose tonight to clinch the East Arizona is losing at the moment to StL and so the Dodgers may clinch the NLWest before they even take the field And, most important to us, Milwaukee is under the dome against Pittsburgh. Yovanni Gallardo was the Brewers' hot-shot rookie pitcher but he goes tonight for the first time since May. LHP Zack Duke opposes the RH-heavy Milwaukee lineup.

Still tied at 1 in the 6th in Milwaukee Astros, technically not out of the WC race, winning their game Boston winning, putting off clinching day for Tampa ChiSox leading the Twins

Great, we get a team that would love nothing better than to knock us out on the final weekend AGAIN, and they get a team that probably will just be a bunch of C-Teamers. Should be one hell of a Goddamned weekend.

I am not sure how they normally do this, but will lou run out his regular lineup on the last day of the season for kind of a tune up run so they aren't not all playing together for a long time? Or is rest the name of the game?

Twins climb out of a 6-0 hole to tie it in the 8th and win it in the 10th. Now THEY are 1/2 game in front after the sweep.

Or is rest the name of the game? Well, they're not opening the NLDS until Wednesday, so after Sunday's game they'll have two days of rest. And they're ending in Milwaukee, which is close to Chicago anyway, and a stadium where their guys like to pitch no-hitters. If I remember Davey Johnson's approach in 1986 and 1988 correctly, he didn't want complacency. He wanted the team playing to win right up until the end. Don't take the foot off the gas pedal, go full steam ahead. I would imagine that Lou Piniella would have a similar approach.

He'll do what he did at Shea: give his regulars some at bats, and have a look at some of his other guys. I was somewhat surprised that Soto, Ramirez, and Lee all had the same night off, and I would be surprised if that were the case again. That first baseman yesterday certainly showed he deserved another look.
