Glavine-esque start for Pelf

TransMonk
Sep 26 2008 05:22 PM

Nice recovery to limit the damage.

The Marlins came to play.

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 26 2008 05:27 PM

Mario, you scared the snot out of me! He has to give up five more runs to get into Glavine country.

That was just a Pedro-esque start!

Case of the yips. We'll get them back.

That field must be in horrible shape.

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 26 2008 05:33 PM

Bases loaded. Grr Somebody tell Ryan Church we need this game!

mario25
Sep 26 2008 05:36 PM

Lets hope the Fish stay at 2 all night

mario25
Sep 26 2008 05:37 PM

John Cougar Lunchbucket

KC
Sep 26 2008 05:42 PM

3 men left on already in one inning ... that unopened bottle of 100 proof
Stoli for Sunday morning bloody marys is ... don't panic, it's early.

Of course the Phillies are winning.

Ryan Church. Rally killer .

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 26 2008 06:22 PM

I am not that concerned. Top of the order, 3rd time, coming up. Get thru the top of this inning and we'll be rocking and/or rolling.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 06:29 PM

Guys in the booth whining about the atmosphere. The reason is that Mets are losing and the fans are watching the scoreboard.

Met bats wake up next inning and Shea becomes Mardis Gras.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 06:32 PM

I want a Ramon Martinez bobblehead.

Crowd's awake now.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 06:38 PM

Cmon Delgado we need a big bop right now

mario25
Sep 26 2008 06:38 PM

Or a 1st pitch grounder to 2b

I'm gonna shut up now

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 26 2008 06:41 PM

I'm worried that we didn't do anything in the first inning. And any of the following innings. Chad Volstad?

C'mon Mets!

metsguyinmichigan
Sep 26 2008 06:42 PM

The Fish have more 30-homer guys than I thought they would have.

Sep 26 2008 07:04 PM

Next year we need some pop off the bench other than Easley

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 07:07 PM

Well, there's been Tatis, but we've kind of needed it since Tony Clark.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 07:10 PM

I forgot about Fernando... my bad

That's a great picture, metirish. Would make a cool avatar if you want to use it ...

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 07:11 PM

Bobby Parrs, now. Damn, Jerry's buried his first half pen.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 07:13 PM

I would have gone with Smith again

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 07:17 PM

Oh, badness.

Feliciano to come.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 07:17 PM

Bad time to put Parnell in. That was a dumb move in my opinion after scoring a run to get closer.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 07:22 PM

Wow, and a thankless spot to throw Heilman to the wolves, but welcome back, Aaron.

They should have started the inning with youse.

KC
Sep 26 2008 07:25 PM

Fun fact from Gary: Heilman has walked 17 of his first batters this year.
That's freakin' mind boggling if I heard that right. I'm not fact checking right
now but I think that's what he said.

metirish
Sep 26 2008 07:26 PM

Does Reyes or Castillo make that play that R Martinez makes.....looked to me like a tall guy was needed there.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 07:26 PM

He added that he'd only done it six times over the previous three years.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 07:31 PM

Gotta keep it close here

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 07:33 PM

Wow. Here's to not playing the infield in, folks.

KC
Sep 26 2008 07:34 PM

AG: He added that he'd only done it six times over the previous three years<<<

Uh, so it's an aberration or something? Next year he'll be back to trend?
He's toast? Confirming what I heard and adding to it? Confirming and
correcting me?

(and no, I haven't opened the bottle of Stoli ... yet)

mario25
Sep 26 2008 07:38 PM

Heilman is a pile of garbage...trade him for some used baseballs and I would be happy. He is afraid to throw strikes because he gets raked so much.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 07:43 PM

I won't call it an abberation until it stops happening. It's certainly been a departure. Whether he ever arrives again is anyone's guess.

Time to open up the guns.

Sep 26 2008 07:45 PM

mario25

Which team tonight looks like the playoff team? And also Hanley Ramirez is doing what we want Reyes to do this weekend.

KC
Sep 26 2008 08:11 PM

I love how they seem to average about seven pitchers a night lately.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 26 2008 08:14 PM

Jerry uses so many trying to find which one or two aren't going to suck that night.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 08:18 PM

Good at-bat by Dukie, but we get the call.

Beltran-Church-Martinez.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 08:26 PM

Blub.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 08:33 PM

This team failed to show up tonight and it is sad....

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 26 2008 08:35 PM

Whine after we lose, fellas. If Shea has any magic left we gotta go look for it now.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 26 2008 08:35 PM

Oh, they showed up are right. They're just getting their collective asses kicked in a must win game.

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 08:35 PM

Figgie showed up and gets his men.

Wright is your tying run.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 26 2008 08:39 PM

mario25

Big smile on Hanley Ramirez face...I would like to punch it.....This team loves to smack the heartless Mets

bmfc1
Sep 26 2008 08:47 PM

The only time the Marlins show any balls is when they are out of it.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 08:48 PM

I love the Mets but in order to be a playoff team you have to finish the deal....

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Sep 26 2008 08:50 PM

Eh. We lost this one on merit. Hate to go back to Wednesday night but I'm afraid we just might be regretting that one for as long as we're fans.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 08:53 PM

We as fans can go back to many games this season like Wednesdays.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 26 2008 08:55 PM

Lunchbucket -"Eh. We lost this one on merit. Hate to go back to Wednesday night but I'm afraid we just might be regretting that one for as long as we're fans."

That's when the Mets let the Divisiaon race slip away for good and loosened their grip on the wild card. Last night's victory brought back a glimmer of hope, but essentially it all seemed to just slip away when they lost on Wednesday night.

The Mets need to realize that the season doesn't end in August. They need to learn to finish the deal.

mario25
Sep 26 2008 09:01 PM

Man on third nobody out.....seems like a done deal almost every time

AG/DC
Sep 26 2008 09:03 PM

We didn't get that situation this evening, did we?

mario25
Sep 26 2008 09:12 PM

Santana goes tomorrow.

Sep 26 2008 09:44 PM

It was early (6:50? 6:55?) so there wasn't much of a crowd on hand when they announced the promotion of the "top moments at Shea" -- they counted down #3 (winning in '69), #2 (Piazza, 9/21/01) and #1 (Game 6).

Then they announced, "representing moment number 3, Bud Harrelson (who had already pulled down the number) and Tom Seaver!" Big cheer.

But then Piazza was announced -- total surprise -- and it was great. He looks fantastic. Was the highlight of the night for me.

The rest of the night? Sucked. The 'pen got the boos but the offense lost us the game.
