Both the Phils/Nats game and the Cubs/Brewers game are 3:55 EDT FOX telecasts, although those in NYC are getting Yanx/Sawx.

If we've already lost by the time these get started then the Philly game becomes meaningless.
If we've already won then we can't be fully eliminated no matter what happens.

In Philly it's a pair of lefties, John Lannon vs Jamie Moyer (we've lost to both this month)

In Milwaukee it's LHP Theodore Roosevelt Lilly (yes, that's his real name) vs Ben Sheets (off his death bed, or something like that)

Sheets has been shaky and we have Santana going today. Reason to be hopeful.

I'd really like tomorrow's game to mean something.

Daryle Ward hits a two-run homer in the first for the Cubs.

Cubs 2, Brewers 0, bottom of the first.

Thanks to yankee Rain Delay the BREWERS are currently on FOX 5 in the NY area, enjoy!

I'm getting Phillies-Nationals, which is also important but I'd rather see Cubs-Brewers.

Thanks to not living in NJ anymore, I'm getting Cubs-Brewers. Lilly Ks the Fat Prince of Bel Aire.

Terrible, lazy looking throw from Ronny Cedeno gives the Brewers a baserunner. Wake up, Cub schulb!

FK: although those in NYC are getting Yanx/Sawx<<<

Thankfully my twenty something mile north buffer zone got me out of that.
I'm getting Cubs/Brewers. Anything else, especially an unimportant Yankee
game, mighta sent me over yet another ESPN/FOX edge.

The overly broad FOX blackout rules really screw over Mets fans right now. The 3:55 games are not on either mlb.tv or Extra Innings and NY is stuck with a meaningless MFY game. In DC, we have the Nationals-Phillies when I want to see Cubs-Brewers.

The buffer zone ain't got nuthin to do with it.
The rain in Boston does. We all have Cubs-Brewers now.

Go Cubs, Go!

Frayed Knot
Sep 27 2008 02:42 PM

And a bases-loaded single and it's 4-0 Cubs and Sheets day is done.

I suspect they're panicking and pulling him to set him up to pitch against us in a possible play-in.

Weeks singles to load 'em up.

Sep 27 2008 02:56 PM

I'm guessing Lilly gets pulled after five.

FOX just switched NY area to the philly game.

KC

They hate Mets fans. If they can't give us Yanks the won't let us watch the
Cubs beat up on the Brew Crew, and make us listen to Tim McCarver to
freakin' boot. I hate network baseball.

FOX has returned us to Milwaukee for now.

Don't get all paranoid on me in your old age pal.
They're probably going to bounce back and forth like CBS does with NCAA hoops based on which game looks more interesting at that moment.
If the Yanx do start, however, I'm sure they're contractually obligated to show it here.

Phils jump up 2-0 without hitting a ball hard all inning.
dink, bloop, walk, sac, walk, etc

Lilly no-hitting Brews thru 4.
I wonder if his Lilly's relief will be Eddie or Grandpa?

I'm wired, FK ... I'll shush on that topic lol.

Jeannie tells us the Sawx game is postponed and there will be a double-
header tomorrow.

Meaningless except for the gate at Fenway.

Ted Lilly is a nice man.

Nymr83
Sep 27 2008 03:30 PM

5 Perfect Innings for Ted Lilly. 60 pitches.

Another inning is still a "playoff tuneup" in my mind, but what if he doesnt?

I'd pull him after 6 no matter what.

Elster88
Sep 27 2008 03:32 PM

Ahhh who are you, Joe Buck?

I'm not a superstitious man but I'm grasping at straws here.

Dammit keep him off the bases.

AG/DC
Sep 27 2008 03:40 PM

Ted Lilly is an American Hero, and I'd pull him when he's done being one.

Gwreck
Sep 27 2008 03:41 PM

Washington stranded the tying runs with nobody out in the top of the 6th.

No hitter gone, Lilly lifted, Milwaukee with 1st and 3rd and no outs in the 7th.

Gwreck
Sep 27 2008 04:06 PM

Second and third, nobody out for the Nationals in the top of the 8th.

HahnSolo
Sep 27 2008 04:17 PM

Sac fly by Milledge made it 3-2

Gwreck
Sep 27 2008 04:18 PM

...but Dukes grounded out and Boone struck out.

Nationals will have to do it in the 9th against Lidge if we want to get the division this year.

SteveJRogers
Sep 27 2008 04:29 PM

Stormy weather is Brewing for the Cubs in the 8th. 4-3 right now, bases still loaded with one away.

Nymr83
Sep 27 2008 04:29 PM

the Cubs lead has been cut to 4-3 and Milwauklee still has the bases loaded

Gwreck
Sep 27 2008 04:31 PM

After first and third with one out, Marquis hit Ryan Braun.

Then Cotts came in and Ronny Cedeno dropped a pop-up that Prince Fielder hit. Allowing a run to score.

A double play here would be nice.

Gwreck
Sep 27 2008 04:33 PM

Cubs get out of the inning, take a 1 run lead to the 9th.

Gwreck
Sep 27 2008 04:34 PM

Nationals (down 4-2) have first and second with one out in the top of the 9th.

Gwreck

Anderson Hernandez with the RBI single! Now 4-3, tying run on second, 1 out.

SteveJRogers
Sep 27 2008 04:39 PM

SteveJRogers

Gwreck
Sep 27 2008 04:41 PM

Lidge has had a great year, but I swear he's had more than his share of luck during this "perfect" (blown save-less) season.
Guy seems to forever put on runners and then almost but not quite give up the lead.

The Cubs kept scaring me with their OF play.
Twice! Prince Fielder sent sky-high but shallow OF flies that had hang times so long that everyone except the catcher had time to get under ... and no one did! The second one I thought was going to kill any chance we had left.
