100 Runs/100 RBI

Carlos Delgado has 94 runs scored this year. He'll need 6 more if the Mets want to have 3 players this year who have both scored at least 100 runs and batted in at least 100 runs. He already as 18 runs in 20 games this September, so 6 in the remaining 6 games is certainly a possibility.

(Yes, Reyes could get 33 RBI in the final 6 games, too...but I'd bet on Delgado first).

If Delgado reaches it, the 2008 Mets will be the first in team history to have 3 players reach the accomplishment. The closest they've come before is '99, when Olerud was 4 RBI short of joining Piazza and Alfonzo.

Trivia time!
Over the past 10 years, there have been 9 other teams* with 3 such players. Can you name the 3 players from these teams?

1998 Astros
1999 Rangers
1999 Diamondbacks
1999 Indians
2002 Yankees
2004 Cardinals
2004 Yankees
2005 Yankees
2007 Yankees

* If you find any other teams, let me know. I believe this list to be definitive.

1998 Astros- Jeff Bagwell, Moises Alou, Derek Bell
1999 Rangers- Ivan Rodriguez, Juan Gonzalez, Rafael Palmiero
1999 Diamondbacks- Matt Williams, Luis Gonzalez, Jay Bell
1999 Indians- Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, Roberto Alomar
2002 Yankees- Bernie Williams, Jason Giambi, Alfonso Soriano
2004 Cardinals- Albert Pujols, Jim Edmonds, Edgar Renteria
2004 Yankees- Bernie Williams, Jason Giambi, Alex Rodriguez
2005 Yankees- Gary Sheffield, Jason Giambi, Alex Rodriguez
2007 Yankees- Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Hideki Matsui

this question is way too yankee-centric.
the '99 indians and '99 diamondbacks are the only two guesses i feel confident about.

Go back a little further, and you find the most scrod team in history, the 1996 Orioles. Palmiero, Anderson, and Bonilla joined the list, with Alomar six RBI short, and Ripken six runs.

I think it's pretty clear that the point of the question is not to focus on the Yankees.

Tony Womack.

We're only accepting answers in groups of three, but I can safely assure you that Tony Womack never came close to 100 RBI in a season.

All of the right players were mentioned, just the wrong combinations.

99 Diamondbacks with 100/100 were Gonzalez, Finley and Bell.
