Slipped on the steps in my building yesterday. Broke my knuckle (left middle finger, my favorite digit) in three spots. Splinted up for the next 3-4 weeks.

Any other interesting workplace injuries to speak of?

In a previous job working at a construction site I was using a big power drill drilling into a concrete wall and hit a rebar which stopped the drill bit but not the drill and spun me around and broke four metacarpal bones in that hand.....was out for a few months.

not the offending drill.

Many years ago, one of the secretaries said her PC didn't work. I saw that the plug was loose. So I bent down and streteched behind the L-return on her desk to plug it in. When I got up, I couldn't straighten up. I wore a back brace for about 6 months.

just yesterday, i took a big power drill to the outlet underneath my secretary's desk. The shock knocked me back, down the stairs. I broke TWO knuckles in FOUR spots, 5 metacarpals, snapped my spine... in fact, i was killed instantly.

so there.

feel better, Ted. At least you're not dead.

Worked in a Sarasota, Florida warehouse of a Miller Beer distributorship. A forklift ran over my foot and broke it.

Ended my summer job about 4 weeks early which was fine with me. You'd agree if you've ever spent a summer in Sarasota.

On July 21, 1999, I was goofing off reading the Mofo when a post from Ms. Met exploded my brain.

Last year, I had my laptop while covering a school board meeting and realized that I could follow along on Gametracker.

Naturally, I was absorbed in the game, and let out a "YES!" when the Mets scored a big run. Sadly, this was at a rather inappropriate point in the meeting to do such a thing and all eyes stopped and looked.

Sheepishly, I said. "Um, the Mets scored."

Nothing injured, but I hear about this a lot when I have the laptop at the meetings.

Summer job at a Subway, running cucumber through the veggie slicer with my hand. Doesn't matter how busy the store is, turns out that it's never a good idea. Took of a neat little chunk of the nail on my left index finger, and left tiny pool of blood in the polyethylene glove (which somehow didn't tear) that amused me much more than it did my boss.
