Still here.

Thank you for being friends.

I'll pop in from time to time.

During the winter a lot of my on-line time gets eaten up in World Of Warcraft.
Its a pay to play game so you really feel compelled to play while your account is active.

All the newbies and/or part-timers should hang around during the off-season, or at least
poke their heads in from time to time.

We certainly don't close up shop around here and, between the post-season (at least for
those with strong stomachs - but, hey, no Yanquis!), the post-mortem we need to do on our
own team, the lenghty hot-stove season, the fact that we technically don't have a manager
at the moment, and the bullpen we need to revamp from top to bottom, we usually manage
to keep this place hopping.

In addition, we should have the P-o-t-Y results in a few days and then there's our seperate
year-end rankings project which all are welcome to participate in.
And if all that isn't enough you never know when a sex, drugs, or pop-culture topic will
break out in the non-baseball forum.
There's also that election thing next month.

So while we may not solve all the world's problems by next Tuesday, we're certainly willing
to give it a go.

Not to mention the hi-lite of the off-season, the cpf holiday charity-exchange.

As MGIM and Rockin' Doc can attest, I too am an out-of-area Mets fan, and I value both the discussions I find here, and the people who inhabit this forum.

Thats kool.
In that case I'll probably make a Santana one too....in anticapation of what he will do for us next few seasons.

Edge,
This is not the Delgado avatar, I was just messing around while watching the game. Would need a backround and I'm testing how a few different portraits and backrounds look.
Reason for posting this is I have a question (you have not responded to PMs recently,..maybe your full up there).
The Question: Can I go beyond the 100x100 border set up with things in the avatar, such as Carlo's arms, as I did here?

AG/DC
Oct 20 2008 05:40 AM

I guess so, particularly downward. We just want to set a good precedent for the personal avatars folks use.

How 'bout using the artistic shots of Delgado batting topless.

I did find a pic like you displayed in this thread but it wasn't color.
Ever see any color shots from that set?
Or any shots that show more of his face?
(I can colorize em I suppose)

Zvon
Oct 22 2008 10:05 PM

My concern in testing them is I was not sure if you have a size limit set for your bonus avatars.
I know you initially requested them being 100x100 pixels and these will be a tad bigger than that.

I can see how one will look by just trying one on, and I'll do that for now.
<(you can see the size difference there)

This is a colorized version that can be used for the type of Delgado av you have requested.
I don't think this is a good pic to use, but if that's what you want, I'll make one up.

Also, could you please move this thread to the members promotion section or anywhere more appropriate?
No reason this should be clogging up the baseball forum.

I toned down the saturation and that's the closest I can get to his skin color with what I have to work with.
Colorization is a very limited process.

Looking like Spidey can only be a good thing.(Hi Ms. Edgy *waves)

Glad you like it :)

I like the clear backround.
How do you do that?
That's what I wanted to do initially but I couldn't match both grays so I went with the two tone.

I also think the two tone has a kool look to it also so you can choose how you want it.

I'm always trying to have a portrait shot included but I do think I prefer the Seaver without it.
I would like to add something in tribute of the '69 Mets World Championship, like I did for the '86,
but there was no logo-like things in those days. I used the World Series ring on Seaver's old one but that's not as definitive as I would have liked.
Any suggestions?

Just right click on avatar, save to drive, support (at some place like photoBucket) and insert as avatar in profile.

Or use this link from my photoBucket and insert in your profile:
(if you do this lemme now so I know to continue support)

If your supporting it yourself (or using my link for support) make sure
you use the second option listed in profile for personal avatars which is "link to an off-site avatar"(

Zvon
Nov 04 2008 07:19 PM

Edge and KC:
As you can see I'm going to redo all the avatars during this off season
implementing the new type border.
I'll simply be going through my folder of the old ones
and using that as a reference. If you want any players done up
who have not been listed in the past, lemme know.

I may have asked this before but why are only players used? Why not managers, coaches, GMs, and such.
Why doesn't this list salute the top 100 persons in Met history as opposed to just players?
( I think I'm just trying to find a way to keep Bill Shea's name alive somewhere in the Met world, lol)

So as not to create a hassle for you guys please don't install
these for use at this time. Let's change em over after all the work is done.
I suggest this because as I do them I'll sometimes do additional work to
ones already posted here (like Keith below).
The older submissions will be removed so in the end only final versions will be shown here.

*Edge I can't seem to do that trick you do with the .gif with my graphics program.

Edgy DC
Nov 05 2008 07:38 AM

Only players are used because that reflects our all-time ranking project. It leaves non-playing figures as good choices for permanent designations when we get into the stratosphere.

My problem is is that I can't upload these at work because I don't have an ftp app, but I can't transparent them at home because I don't have photoshop, so it will help me out if you can make these gifs and erase the gray buffers.

Add on that my landlord's wireless network is down and other details in my life, and please understand that my lack of kwik uploadiong does not mean that I don't appreciate your work.

Zvon
Nov 06 2008 03:51 PM

There's no rush to get these on the board Edgy.
I don't care if we wait til 2009 or even spring training.

For some reason I have not figured out yet I cannot do the ".gif thing" (make it transparent) using my graphics program.
As I inquired earlier, what program do you use to do that in.

Also, after converting a few of these avatars to .gifs and looking at them side by side
with the .png versions I'm not happy with the loss of image quality.
The .png has a smoother look.

.png> .gif>

Lets go with the .png. I believe they can also be made transparent backed.
If I can't get that done using my graphics program lets just go with the two tone look.

No reason this should become something complicated for you.
Like I said, there's no rush in getting these up.
Do it at your convenience.

Zvon
