I feel terrible

So I had an extra ticket to a game a few weeks ago and my gf's younger sister had just moved to Queens. So I suggested we bring her along.

She had never been to a baseball game before and had absolutely no interest in sports. But, never-the-less, when we left the game (despite it being that game where Ayala gave up a 3 run homer in the 9th to blow the lead against the Braves) she was like "that was fun."

So, I got her to sign up for postseason tickets. Of course, she wins. She gets 4 tickets to the first home game.

I tell her on Sunday that she has to root for the Mets so we have a chance to use the tickets.

The email I get from her this morning says "That was the first time I have ever felt bad that a sports team lost a game."

What have I done? Am I a bad person?

She felt bad for you of course , you would have used the tickets.

Well, she was very straightforward with me that when she was buying the tickets, she was going to the game.

She really wanted to go . . . so I am not sure if she was sad because she had become a semi-Mets fan, or just that she wasn't going to another baseball game.

Well as you know , if she plans on being a Mets fan then heartbreak is part of the deal.

How are her ribs? Perhaps she can cheer for the Islanders.

this does suck.

its nice that the mets getting eliminated coincides with the jewish holidays, i'll be gone from the board until at least wednesday night, but maybe longer as i try to "get over" this craptastic season. see you all again soon.

The Mets aren't chokers. They just like to start their Rosh Hashanah earlier than everybody else.

At least we're not going to have to worry if Schoeneweis will pitch on Yom Kippur.

(sigh. I'm grasping)
