I'm not sure that I'll be voting against Bull Durham no matter what it's up against.

We should have a separate tournament for baseball-related movies (Bill Simmons argues that Bull Durham is really a chick flick in disguise).

I've never seen what the greatness of the movie is, and merely attribute it with goodness.

All for it. I'm in the "good, not great" category for BD also. It is a chick flick, just look at the damn trailer. I'm like, totally into St. Elmo's for its outrageous badness, with one performer chewing up more scenery than the next on down the line. It's a complete and utter suckfest so spectacular I can. Not. Turn. Away.

Bull Durham? Eh. I'd rather watch "Eight Men Out" or "The Natural" anytime if I'm looking for 80's baseball cinema. Sorry, but I'm back to the wank-scale and I'm giving my vote to slutty-attainable-pre-implant Demi Moore here over, uh, Susan Sarandon's weathered ass.

Ha. I am the lone dissenter, the McCain vote of this poll. Nice!

The end of that video --- when John Parr walks around the set, sings to each of the St. Elmo's Fire characters, and they each look up from their naval gazing to smile as if "John Parr has made me see that everything is going to be alright" --- is just craptacular. It's almost felonious.

Bull Durham - not even a contest....

St. Elmo's Fire shouldn't even be seeded, especially with Strange Brew being snubbed.

I wasn't as ga-ga over either of these when they first came out as the general public seemed to be -- but funny scenes at ballparks beats brats in bars any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

This is so true and if I had read it before my vote I would have voted differently.....I will never look at Susan Sarandon the same way again.

Sarandon was around 40 when she shot BULL DURHAM and Demi Moore, on her bestest day, couldn't lick the hem of Ms. Sarandon's garter belt in that movie. In fact, Susan is hotter today, at age 62, then Moore has ever been in her entire talentless, plasticene life.

Bull Durham in a route. They should apply the 10-run rule to this one.

But that's the point. It isn't only a baseball movie. It is a love story, and Kevin Kostner delivers one of the memorable soliliques (sp?) on love in any movie. "I believe in .... " Later

Not even close. Bull Durham, not Field of Dreams, is the greatest baseball movie.
