Joba Chamberlain arrested for DUI

ASSOCIATED PRESS

LINCOLN, Neb. - New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, speeding and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

Deborah Collins is a spokeswoman for the Nebraska State Patrol. She says Chamberlain was stopped for speeding on U.S. 77 near his hometown of Lincoln at about 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Collins says Chamberlain was taken to the Cornhusker Place Detox in Lincoln, which she says is the normal protocol.

Chamberlain was lodged at the center on charges of driving under the influence, having an open container of alcohol and speeding.

Collins says the county attorney likely would file formal charges on Monday. An e-mail sent to Chamberlain's agent Saturday was not immediately returned.

I guess that small town kid got into bad habits hanging around with a bad element - Yankees.

DUI is one action I feel there is absolutely no excuse for.

I too find it humorous that the future "face of the Yankees" already has a DUI arrest on his record. Why, I remember when it took Yankees such as Martin, Mantle, Skowron, et. al. several years before they broke up their first bars in drunken brawls.

I miss old, crazy George, who would have shipped Joba out of town immediately to Kansas City or something, even right in the middle of the playoffs, when I'm sure there's a moratorium on moves.

Still, hit 'n' run vehicular manslaughter > DUI with an open container.

I don't remember George's vincitiveness coming down on public misbehavior so much as running through a stop sign at third against the White Sox.

Too bad Joba wasn't playing baseball last night like 2/5ths of his division was, huh?

Speeding at 1:00 AM drunk is almost as stupid as driving drunk.

Guess the cop was a Rays or Sox fan otherwise I'm sure something could
have been worked out. Will be a more entertaining story if it leaks out that
he was belligerent cuss and a borderline resisting arrest story to boot!

One can only wait and hope.

Joba, quite the grown up, apologizes for "putting myself in this situation," asnd gets a ballwashing from Hank. Every other motorist can go fuck themselves.

A question , if you were a professional player other than game time would you wear your teams baseball cap ?

Joba yesterday in Lincoln .

Turns out Joba was in a Titty bar and got into a jawing match with a Red Sox fan....

]"Some guy yelled out, 'If you played for the Red Sox, you wouldn't be sitting here,'" clubgoer Gary (Bo) Bohaty said.

Hank -
] If the kid needs our help , we're here for him , now get me a beer Cash

So I guess this means it's been decided that Joba is going to the pen.

I don't know. My first thought was yes, but then I thought that it might make me more recognizable, so maybe not.

I was thinking that Joba has future 300-pounder written all over him. Maybe he'll top out at 270 if he's forced to behave.

Yankee Hanky is starting to look like he has current 300-pounder written on him.
