Not a surprise that he turned it down with him been a finalist for the Brewers job. I would think that Acta is on the hot seat and with Riggleman as one of his new coaches he might not be long for the job.

I'm Mo Green, you don't buy me out I buy you out!

Either he's confident that one of his other interviews/feelers will come through or he really doesn't want to work for Acta.

it's probably a better-than-even bet that he can get better work than an aide de camp to a hot-seat manager on a bottom feeder team run by a reviled ownership.

Aren't the Mets paying him more than $1 million to do nothing? I bet he sits out the year then ends up on the Yankees coaching staff, again.

$2.25 million says the article .

I can't blame Willie for turning this one down. He can afford to be selective right now.

If someone would guarantee me $ 2.25 million to stay home with my family, I assure you that I would turn down all prospective job offers for next year and likely many more years thereafter. Of course, that's probably just me.

Manny Acta was hired by Omar, not Willie.

No.

Anyway, when was the "contention"? I feel like if there was even a sniff of a contentious relationship we would've been beaten across the head with it nonstop for at least six months and would still be hearing about it now. I misremember.

I agree.

At the very least, somebody contending that there was contention while the Mets contended should cite us a citation.

Willie not going to Milwaukee, either as the Brewers name former A's skipper Ken Macha as manager.

Maybe he can be a bench coach for the Long Island Ducks.
