ESPN Page 2 "ranks" every postseason since 1995 for memorable characteristics here. You can feel this thing ooze with self-congratulatory contempt. Ain't I clever? For parochial purposes, note the short shrift it gives key moments from the '99, '00 and '06 postseasons and then multiply that by every other team that doesn't fit his narrative.

Regarding his crack about bloggers, couches and books, who the fuck is David Schoenfield?

So this guy ranks them like so...

]

We started by giving one point for each game played (2008 saw 31 of a possible 41 games played), then awarded and subtracted points for various memorable moments, classic games and exciting World Series to arrive at a final score.

FINAL STANDINGS
1. 2004: 100 points
2. 2003: 89 points
3. 2001: 87 points
4. 1995: 61 points
5. 1999: 58 points
6. 2002: 57 points
7. 2005: 57 points
8. 1996: 50 points
9. 1997: 45 points
10. 2000: 42 points
11. 2006: 41 points
12. 1998: 30 points
13. 2008: 29 points
14. 2007: 19 points

Not only did the Yankees lose (and lose forever) in 2001, but they lost in a game seven featuring four of the greatest pitchers of their generation.

I've never really gotten these sorts of "best postseason ever" or "best year ever" types of articles/surveys. If I have a horse in a particular postseason, that's whose series I'm watching. If not, and I'm entertained/stimulated by some of it, fine. I can only watch one game at a time anyway.
