Is it just my copy or does everyone's (Sun, Nov 2) NYT magazine [u:2p25mni8]NOT[/u:2p25mni8] give the starting point for the diagramless puzzle alongside the previous week's answers like they claim to do?
And if it's not just me they're picking on anyone have any ideas as to how to get this knowledge?

The puzzle would be tres difficulte to complete (or ever start) without that knowledge.

Found it (on the NYT website under 'corrections') -- you start on the very first square.

Life has meaning again, carry on.

I had "Partner of Herr" this morning as a clue. Four letters, and the answer was FRAU, but my original thought was OZZY before realizing that his name ended in IE.

The other problem with Ozzie/Ozzy as the answer is that they usually like to match first names to first names and last names to other last names.

So, just as 'Clark's co-star' would be Vivien while 'Gable's co-star' is Leigh, if the 'Herr' in this case did mean the 2nd baseman the match would be Smith rather than Ozzie.

Shows where your head's at though.

You mean the answer isn't HIMM? Well, I'm screwed.

19-Down in today's crossword: site of 1966 Beatles concert.

SHEA probably occurs in one in 20 crosswords, but I wonder if that's going to fade, or at least Metly references in the clues diminish, and instead we get clues like "Diamond Star Hillenbrand."

Post in this thread every time there is a Metly reference in your crosswords.

"His #10 was the first ever retired by the Montreal Expos?

Five letters. "ANDRE" or "STAUB" or "RUSTY"?

Today I got, "Subway Series stadium, once."

It's being spoken of as in the past, sorta.

41 Down: "Johan Santana, for one."

I'm at a loss.

Second NYTimes Sunday Xword in a row with an Obama theme to it.

I'm half surprised that Tuesday hasn't been declared a national holiday.

Finished the Sunday Post one for the first time in forever. Forty five hours, 51 minutes, and 46 seconds.

What holds me up is my lack of worldliness --- and Indian city and an Indian language got this time, but ususaly it's consonant-heavy rivers from eastern Europe or China. Oh those lazy days under a shady tree by the shore of the BTN.

Really? Obviously, the answer is MET.

BTW, while the Times is good, if you want a real challenge, try the [url=http://www.theherald.co.uk/crosswords/:3jum26ld]Daily Herald[/url:3jum26ld] (I prefer cryptics, of course).

So did the NYTimes/Will Shortz make some kind of announcement that these 'Ken-Ken' things are going to be the official 2nd puzzle of the Sunday Times Magazine?

Usually they put the 2nd puzzle on some kind of rotating basis with about 6 different kinds showing up on a more-or-less regular basis plus a handful of others showing up now and then.

But now these 'Ken-Ken' things have appeared about 3 weeks in a row and it's starting to look like they've got a permanent gig meaning that variety is out the window.

That Dennis Eckersley metaphor doesn't work very well.
