I don't think the stats hounds are going to like this one as they'll likely think Pedroia is getting too much credit for being "scrappy", "gritty", or just plain short. But he really did have a great year and he's the only middle infielder of the top contenders. Ton 'o doubles, good SB pct, etc.

TB SS Jason Bartlett got one vote - a 5th place vote! Nice defensive shortie on a good story team and getting his glove allowed them to move Iwamura to 2B and bring up Longoria and really improve the overall team 'D' ... but the guy barely hit his weight. THAT'S what you call going overboard with the "glue that holds the team together" angle.
