Hillary, Secretary of State

I think it's a good move and I think she'd be a good one.

(pick your jaws up, yes I mean it)

I have to agree, especially if the rumor regarding the final three choices was true. She's the best choice.

So much for Change.

Are you saying Hillary=Condi?

I may be incorrect in my understanding, but I take Willet's point to mean for all the promises of change coming to Washington, most of the appointtees thus far are career politicians and Washington insiders. They may be different from the people currently serving in those capacities under president Bush, but they do not demonstrate any departure (at least in my view) from the same old Washington bureaucrats simply shifting positions within the political hiarchy.

I guess it depends on how you interpreted Obama's promise of "change."

Is it change from the Bush administration? Or change from how things have always been done in the past?

It's always better to have expertise in a position than to pick someone solely because they have no connection to Washington.

The change was change from Bush. Going back to Clinton is a good idea.

More pressing, though: who replaces Hillary in the Senate? I hope it's not that asshole Andrew Cuomo.

5 to 1 that it is.

I heard a much better suggestion yesterday, Richard Parsons fromer CEO of Time Warner, he's been mentioned in the past as running for mayor of NYC, he's "Republican" but is part of Obama's economic transition team and also worked with Spitzer so he's hardly some partisan hack.

A Democratic governor isn't going to put a Republican in the Senate. Not with the Dems still having a shot at the 60. (If Minnesota or Georgia go Republican, then maybe that would be a different story.)

Even if the Dems don't pick up both Minnesota and Georgia there is no chance that a Republican will be named to the seat. If not Cuomo, I think Nita Lowey would be a likely candidate.

Chalrie Rangle.

Mark Green.

The Wiener Man.

There's plenty o' Democrats in the Empire State.

Wiener supposedly dated the campaign aide that was alleged to have been Hillary's paramour.

Wiener also hired away a former assistant of mine. She's gone on to bigger and better things and I read recently that she got married to a guy who works for the DNC.

Yeah, Wiener is more plugged in than Joe Biden's hair.

He's either going places or heading for an indictment.

Wiener was romantically linked to one of Clinton's senior aides from her campaign , a hottie IIRC. Does that give him the inside track , maybe.

I heard he dated her campaign aide.

So what is Bill Richardson thinking right about now?

WTF man ... I've been an ambassador and have been in the middle of all kinds of sticky int'l situations. Then, after I step over Hillary's body and behind her fat husband's back to endorse you, you turn around and nominate miss 'Domestic Policy' as Sec of State anyway while you stick me at freakin' Commerce?!?

There's another Clinton in New York. I wouldn't be surprised.

Since Obama used the mantra of Change in his campaign AGAINST Clinton it seemed to imply he was willing to bring Change from the Republican Lite administration of 1993-2001 as well. Filling his cabinet with Clintonistas doesn't bode well for that kind of Change.

I also recall in one of Obama's debates against McCain he said something of the effect that voters should not support politicians with the poor judgment to make the decision to go to war in Iraq. By his own standards, selecting an assertive, vocal proponent of getting into that criminal war for Secretary of State is unconscionable.

FOX News says Gates will be staying on board at least for the first year of the new administration. Probably a good idea to keep some continuity in that department and Gates (a registered independent) is hardly some Bush-loyalist that Obama should feel any need to want to get rid of.

WP: cabinet with Clintonistas <===

And a cab'net of clintonistas
And a partridge in a pear tree

Hmmm ... I should probably focus on Blas Minor.

It's official. Senator Clinton is announced to lead President Elect Obama's naive diplomatic agenda.
