Hello Mookie
Hello Mookie
Nice to see ya
It’s been a long time, but you are still as cheerful
As you used to be.
So what’s the new job, are ya busy?
Just wishing you were still where you’re meant to be.

What’s that Mookie? How are the Mets doing?
Guess there alright except they make me cry all night ‘till dawn.
Why can’t they play like you do, and the ’86 crew, I guess I’m sorry that spirit seems all gone.

Well then Mookie, this is what I gotta do
Just for old time sake
I’m gonna watch Game 6 one more time
Thank you Mookie, may the Mets talk to you, and make the steps to
Bring you closer to Citi Field some time.

Good bye Mookie, guess you gotta go now.
But Mets fans will never lose these memories of a Met so great and true.
And if you should ever find it in your heart to forgive them
Come back Mookie, Met fans will be waiting for you.

Stevie, I thought you said Saturday night.

I ain’t gonna work on Wagner’s farm no more
I ain’t gonna work on Wagner’s farm no more
Well he's only five foot- ten
But he talks like six foot-four
And he talks on while I clean
Alpaca shit from off the floor
If I left, he’d just keep talking to the door
I ain’t gonna work on Wagner’s farm no more

I ain’t gonna live in Wagner’s state no more
I ain’t gonna live in Wagner’s state no more
He says “Talk to the Latinos;
You quote me every night”
His post-game words read stupid
In the glow of morning light
He’s just ruined our buzz from David Wright for sure
I ain’t gonna live in Wagner’s state no more

I ain’t got the hots for Wagner’s wife no more
I ain’t got the hots for Wagner’s wife no more
He leaves me down here with her
Once the season’s under way
But I think “She must have issues”
As I watch her husband play
She’d be cuter if she’d wed George Theodore
I ain’t got the hots for Wagner’s wife no more

We ain’t got no use for Wagner’s arm no more
We ain’t got no use for Wagner’s arm no more
Who’s the next Met closer?
Who we gonna boo?
I just know I’m gonna drop
A ton of hatred down on you
Even Schoeneweis got booed on Yom Kippur
We ain’t got no use for Wagner’s arm no more

I ain’t gonna work on Wagner’s farm no more
I ain’t gonna work on Wagner’s farm no more
If the Mets had won a championship
I’d put up with the smell
Alpacas seem exotic
But they stink like holy hell
And no chicks from New York come to take the tour
I ain’t gonna work on Wagner’s farm no more

Sorry E, I was thinking Saturday but had to add the "night" in order for the line to make complete sense!

Damn, Edge, that's better than good. Ex-champ throwing his weight around early to protest his low seeding.

Solid entry, Steve, but he brought out the alpacas and the stork. You ran right into a buzzsaw, man.

Rogers goes classic country every time, doesn't he?

Nice work but going with Alpaca.

BAM!

Alpaca's/Dylan will beat bad hair country music every single time.

And badly.

Excellent composition Mr. DC.

I figgered it was about as recognizeable as there can be.

Just looking for my dime's worth in today's economy.

Lovely job by both.

Hey Conway's hair wasn't that bad when he first came out with Hello Darlin'! He was still coming off his rock a billy days.

Now THIS is bad hair:

Both great entries.

Excellent job Steve, but Edgy, that's classic.

I voted for Jeets. That ol' country stuff is so uncool that it laps over to, well, uncool again actually. Both are super though.

Out of curiosity, I asked my wife, "If you saw a parody called 'Wagner's Farm,' would you know what song it's based on?" She replied, "Junior's Farm"?

We are Mr. & Mrs. American Top 40.

tmf and Mrs. G-Fafif's similarity scale = very high.

Aren't we supposed to be voting on the parody skills of the CPF-er rather than how well we like the genre, song or artist of the song being parodied?

Otherwise, we might as well just put the songs being parodied to a "what we like" kind of poll as has been done with groups and movies.

I think that the genre acts as a tiebreaker when both contestants ably capture the nature of the subject in their lyrics.

Nope.
Otherwise, its a song contest, not a parody contest.

You guys think you're out of it...I was thinking of Jason's Farm and no one else here has probably ever even heard of that one

MFS: Otherwise, its a song contest, not a parody contest <<<

You're just repeating yourself.

The picking of a song and whether it fits with the subject and if it makes
the voters happy and wanting to vote for it is part of the contest.

OE: Willet ... how's Wednesday morning?

Extra credit if the all-agricultural motif is upheld through the tourney.

I think the lesson learned for future competitors is that no matter how obvious you think your song pick is, there will be Poolers who don't find it as obvious as you do and who would benefit from some sort of hint.

i've long considered that, aside from a distinct lack of relative ability, that my choice of parodied songs which never quite fit into the tastes of the voters is one of the things that holds me back in these contests.

also, sometimes its easier to hear and appreciate the parody if you're familiar with the lyrics.

sharpie

I think knowing the song makes a difference, at least for me. Liking the song doesn't matter to me. I've certainly voted for parodies where I far prefer the other song as a song but my choice's lyrics were better. Also, if one song repeats the same chorus over and over instead of changing it up each time (even if the song kept repeating it) then I tend to vote for the one that doesn't repeat lyrics.

This should really be part of the general parody thread as we're not really talking about Edgy and Steve's battle.

Well, certainly over 48 weekday hours have passed. Heck, almost 92 hourse total. I think I can claim victory.

But I won't without first saluting Steve's almost quixotic attempt to go charging in with a sad klassick kountry song. Bold.

So join me in a toast as we raise our morning tea, coffee, orange juice, or geritol shake:

To Tim Conway... Conway Twitty... Tweety Bird... Lady Bird Johnson... Magic Johnson... and bold Stevie's johnson.
Drink up.
