They certainly picked a nice pair of former Mets to participate in their celebration of Shea Stadium. I hope everyone will be provided with firecrackers and bleach.

I'm going to guess the honorees weren't chosen to match up with the theme.

Yeah, I know. But it's more interesting if you disregard that.

There's also George Brett and the Pine Tar. Too bad Ozzie Smith never did anything infamous at Yankee Stadium.

With that lineup, the theme should be the 1985 World eries, also known as the "I-70 Showdown Series" and the "Show Me Series." It went seven games, and it hinged on a blown call.

That call goes right and Whitey Herzog is in the Hall of Fame. It also might have helped if his Rookie of the Year didn't go getting run over by a tarp machine.

That's drama.

I was at Mizzou during that series. I was pretty crazy. Columbia is smack in the middle of the state.

There are more Cardinal fans than Royals fans, so there was a bit of an underdog thing going on. That Cardinal meltdown in Game Seven was just bizarre -- Tudor punching the electric fan, Andujar freaking out on the mound, Herzog getting tossed.
