According to USA Today, last week, the Mets non-tendered infielder Argenis Reyes and RHP Ambiorix Burgos, which means they are now free agents.
Reyes hit just .218 with a .259 OBP in 49 games for the Mets last season.

Burgos meanwhile hit two women in his SUV.

Wham.
Wham!
We could still re-sign Reyes to a minor league deal though I'm not sure why we'd want to.

Why is Damion Easley off the table? I understand he's no kid anymore, but he did provide a valuable bat off the bench. I don't think the new reserve infielder is as likely to provide as much "pop."

This was all noted in our roster thread.
Andy Green is now our backup shortstop.
Repeat: Andy Green is now our backup shortstop.

The thing with Easley was he provided considerably less "pop" last year than in 07 -- 100 slugging points worth. That, plus being old, plus getting hurt, makes me more than OK with his not coming back. He's expected to sign with the Dbaggs.
That doesn't mean we couldn't replace him with someone good. Three words: Jerry. Hairston. Junior.
