I was going to set up a World Series of 1985 songs.

And the memories of Elisabeth Shue...I want to put that version of her on a pillow, fan her with a giant feather and feed her grapes. They say you never forget your first love. How she went for a weenie like Daniel is beyond me.[/quote:3rr8ym9x]
Absolutely.
This, and William Zabka and the rest of the crazy-ass Cobra Kai, continue to get my vote.
Linda Hamilton went from dishevelled in T1 to butch in T2 without stopping at "hot."

So if it's a tie do we vote on sequels?

No, ties go to the Council of Elders. I'll have to look up who they are again...
Edit --
Reviews from Roger Ebert, Filmcritic.com, and Reel.com, with the film with the preponderance of higher scores declared the winner.

Well, the witching hour has passed and this remains a tie.
However, the Council of Elders has proven problematic in finding like-for-like reviews.
Roger Ebert reviews KK but not Terminatore, while Reel and FilmCritics have ratings on Terminator but not KK.
So I had to dig deeper. Janet Maslin of the Times; Variety magazine and Dave Kehr of the Chicago Reader reviewed both but none give easily comparable number scores.
Maslin:
]'The Terminator,'' which opens today at Loews State and other theaters, is a B-movie with flair. Much of it, as directed by James Cameron (''Piranha II''), has suspense and personality, and only the obligatory mayhem becomes dull. |
]'The Karate Kid,'' which opens today at the Ziegfeld and other theaters, has the makings of a genuinely heart-warming two-man drama, with Mr. Morita a charming cut-up and Mr. Macchio gently likable in the Robby Benson role. But neither the director, John G. Avildsen, nor the screenwriter, Robert Mark Kamen, is content to leave well enough alone. |
Variety:
]The Terminator is a blazing, cinematic comic book, full of virtuoso moviemaking, terrific momentum, solid performances and a compelling story. |
]John G. Avildsen is back in the Rocky ring with The Karate Kid. More precisely, it is a Rocky for kids. |
Kehr:
]Schwarzenegger is presented as a lumbering slab of dumb, destructive strength-the image is more geological than human-and Cameron plays his crushing weightiness against the strangely light, almost graceful violence of the gunplay directed against him. The results have the air of a demented ballet. |
]John G. Avildsen's film is a cunning commercial blend of Rocky's revenge fantasies and Steven Spielberg's family melodrama: the elderly Oriental, as cuddly as E.T., becomes a benign substitute for Macchio's mysteriously missing father. As in the Rocky films, Avildsen's only directorial strategy is to delay the final confrontation for so long that all of the audience's pent-up frustration explodes with it. |
That's three slightly more favorable reviews for Termintor, plus something called Qwipster's Moview Reviews gives Term a 5/5 and KK a 3.5/5
TERMINATOR wins in overtime!

I looked at that too, helped link to critics. The meter itself, I dunno. Not nuanced enough.
