derek lowe just got $60M for 4 years from the braves. are you glad it wasn't us, or do you wish it was?

Too many years, too much money. I think Sheets and Wolf could be had for less.

I'm less concerned with years and money than I am at having a stud at the top of the rotation. And Derek Lowe was the closest thing to that available. (Other than Sabathia, of course, but that's another story.)

Oliver Perez may be dazzling, but he's also mediocre. I think we'll come to regret this.

Is this team really going to be that much improved over last year? So far, anyway, I don't see it.

I'm surprised I'm saying this cuz it's not my money and I don't concern myself with that side of the business (I think it's all out of wack) but:

Not against getting him for four years but 4 for 60 mill is too much $$$.

And he's dicky.

Douche.

Ollie, Wolf, or Garland could throw up some decent numbers in the #3 or #4 slot.

Lowe five years ago would've been great. Now he would just be the second coming of Tom Glavine. We dodged a bullet.

I agree.

Dibble and his ass of a cohost on XM were panning the Mets for not getting Lowe, saying how any other pitcher they might sign isn't a lock for 200 innings every year the way Lowe is.

But they don't really actually know anything. Just a lot of chatter.
