I am so happy for Sally Hawkins - her performance in Happy Go Lucky was phenomenal.

Not a surprise - Heath Ledger poshumously wins the Best Supporting Actor award.

Hey - good timing!

Slumdog just won it's second Golden Globe - this time for Best Score.

I'm winning 7-5 so far in the 2009 "How Old Is That Celebrity?" Golden Globes Challenge.

Steven Spielberg can speak for ten minutes and be great while some of the others are just so annoyingly cringe inducing.

Danny Boyle wins Best Director for Slumdog Millionaire.

It's a juggernaut!

Colin Farrell wins Best Actor for his role in In Bruges. I'm glad to see that film get a major award - it was original, and entertaining.

Kate Winslet should be forced to watch her acceptance"speech" later , my God what was that?

Acting! And poorly, too!

Bruce's new song from The Wrestler won. "Streets of Philadelphia" it's not but a decent song nonetheless. Seems like the same 5 songs that were up here will be up at the Oscars.

I was shocked that Mickey Rourke won Best Actor (even though he's supposed to be fabulous in The Wrestler - I was just expecting the award to go to Sean Penn or Frank Langella).

I was even more shocked that he made it to the stage - he was reeling on those stairs!
Slumdog Millionaire completes its juggernaut by winning Best Picture and positioning itself for a slew of Oscar nominations, which will be announced a week from Thursday.

The Wrestler was ok as a movie, but Mickey Rourke completely immersed himself into the character - he deserved to win.

]Tina Fey looked beautiful!

I just don't see what the big thing is about her, and she should just get over herself.

And no one - I mean no one looked better than Salma Hayek.

With a title like "Golden Globes", this thread is just begging for a sexist, politically incorrect snide remark.

Then again, maybe it's just me?

The only award I disagreed with was Vicky Christina Barcelona winning Best Film (Comedy or Musical). In Bruges was better - it was more original and more entertaining.

VCB was tedious beyond belief.
SLUMDOG was a terrific film.

Didn't see VCB.

SLUMDOG was only okay. Gimmicky, predictable and with a laughable love story. That being said, all the bits of him as a kid were good. It seems like it will prolly win the Oscar and it wouldn't be the worst winner.

**vague spoilers below**

I thought the plot leaned a little too heavily on how wildly the brother's moods changed. I'll save his life ... No, wait, I'll abandon him and kill his lover ... On second thought, maybe I'll take that bullet ... etc etc. I also knew the "final question" 90 minutes before it was asked.

That said, I quite enjoyed it. I even liked the Bollywood hip-hop style finish.

I'd never heard of Slumdog Millionaire till last night around 7:30. Don't have young children...your movie life will never be the same.

I only heard of it when the GG nominations were announced.

Hang in there Han - this too shall pass. I remember when my youngest entered first grade - I felt like a prisoner who was granted parole :)

Iubitul - <i>"I've been waiting for fman to arrive with a beaut...."</i>

Yeah, Fman was my top nominee as well. It's like metfairy set it on a tee when she chose the thread title, but it wasn't Fman's at bat so he missed out.
