Lincoln Hawk Conference finals pits the only surviving No. 1 seed, Back to the Future, v. the "romantic comedy for guys" (cough).

Future has blown away Crocodile Dundee, the Blues Brothers and Airplane on its way.

Bull Durham has faced dramas and unintentional comedies exclusively, beating St. Elmo's Fire, Stand by Me and Rain Man.

Voting ends at noon Tuesday.

I'm exercising the write-in portion of my ballot to vote Purple Rose of Cairo. An 80's movie contest with no Woody? First no Doc Gooden segment in Ken Burns' doc and now this.

A lot of good movies didn;t make the cut.

Interesting in that I tried to limit the field to "popcorn" flix -- popular comedies, mainly -- and half the final 8 are drama/sci-fi.

Tough battle, but Future wins.

Woody Allen ain't no chopped liver. Or maybe he is. What's a "popcorn" flick, anyway? And what does that make a Woody movie -- a pastrami on rye flick? Not that I wouldn't eat a pastrami sandwich in a movie theater -- if they'd only sell 'em.

I vote for Lea Thompson. I'd date-rape that shit like Biff with a 50's alcohol buzz.

A tight match.

BD wins my vote on the rewatchability tiebreaker.

Bull Durham.

I haven't seen it in years, so maybe it's not as good as I remember, but I did watch BTTF last year, and it was only moderately okay.

i recently had to sit thru the B2tF trilogy with my kids, on DVD. Man, are those movies even worse than i remembered, and i didn't like them the first time.

BULL DURHAM, however, is a sexy, funny, poignant contemplation of love, honor, and baseball. How can it not win on a baseball chatboard?

And what FMeat said about the lovely ms. thompson... i hear ya, meat. I'd be on her like a duck from another dimension.

See? That is hysterical.

I'd would flux all over her capacitor. I would even go SpaceCamp on that ass.

I just think saying, "Boy, I'd like to rape her" is a bit disturbing.

I voted Bull Durham. My friends and I can't sit at a ballgame without throwing out line after line.

I can't believe Bull Durham lost this one.

It's like losing to the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals.

It's in the movie! I am no advocate of rape or date rape and neither is my cute little avatar of Fgirl.

But isn't it odd that Biff tries to doink her in the car, forcefully, and 25 years later he's waxing her car in the driveway as the family lackey? You'd think they might not want him around anymore.

It was in the movie? I didn't know.

Okay, I guess you're not as twisted as that comment led me to think you were. My bad, and my apologies.
