This guy couldn't be a bigger douche if he drove up in a Hummer with Florida license plates. What are you famous for anyway?

The Daily Mail is saying this tirade took place two days before he got into that much publicized argument with his mother and sister.

I wonder if this is at all embarrassing to him or is he so into himself that he couldn't care less.

In my world view, Nicholson played the "hero" in that movie :)~

Bale needs to stfu, i've lost all respect for him.

But what about the guys he's yelling at?

I understand he's the 'star' and all that and must be catered to and coddled but at what point do you finally say 'Hey Christian, why don't YOU shut the fuck up and stop acting like a fucking two-year old who just got his fucking cookie taken away?'

I mean would YOU let somebody just berate you like that for 5 minutes? I wouldn't.

Oh, and btw - AWESOME thread title.

You are perhaps secure enough about your professional situation that you can talk truth to power. Most people in this world are not. Christian Bale can command eight figures per picture and has an insanely lucrative franchise anchored to him.

How many times has a studio rued the day they fired a cinematographer? We are, most of us, utterly disposeable. Bale isn't right now. One day he will be again. In the meantime, he's all but bulletproof.

I've gone from speculating to being all but certain that the guy is on fire with narcotics there.

This is true, however it has not been the case my entire professional life. There is no way I would have ever let somebody speak to me that way for that long. And I daresay, neither would you.

At some point everyone in the room came to the realization that Bale had completely lost it. Eventually - an hour, a day, a few days from that point - Bale's gonna realize it too.

Standing up for yourself is not grounds for firing or being ostracized.

Me? I'm a doormat. Of my eight-hour workday, perhaps an average of five are spent eating shit.

It's the film industry. Power is everything, truth is nothing, and self-respect is a fire-able offense. That is, until your title gives you the right to treat everybody as poorly as you were treated.

Not that I'm a definitive look inside as I didn't spend much time there, but that's why I left.

Well, if that's the case then I wouldn't last long in that industry.

maybe you guys had the volume turned up or something but i could only hear Bale's side of the "conversation", i'd really like to know if the other guy said or did anything to get him to keep going for so long

Edgy DC

Sounded like he didn't give the guy any room to get more than a syllable in before going on.

"WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING?!"

"Well, I..."

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!"

Sounds like Kim Basinger's answering machine.

What an arrogant ass. I listened to the first 30 seconds or so of Bale's infantile tyrade when I decided I had heard enough, so I closed the audio link.

That's too funny.

I'm a regular Howard Stern listener and he's gotten tremendous mileage out of that rant. You can't have too close a connection to reality if you're comporting yourself in that manner.

It's benign but my favorite line is, "Oh, good for you." The tone of voice is priceless.
