BttF representing the Lincoln Hawk Conference, meets its toughest competitor yet, Ricky Smith champion This is Spinal Tap.

Make your case!

I'm going with Spinal Tap - I think it was the more innovative film.

BttF was mediocre; TAP created a genre.

Yeah, I don't really get the love for BACK TO THE FUTURE. I mean it was alright, but it has met its match.

What genre?

Movies that don't suck. Nobody had thought of that before.

Don't want to speak for Vic, but I think he's talking about the fake documentary genre, because Tap spawned "Guffman," "Best in Show" and "Mighty Wind" and I guess you can include "The Office."

It is a great film, but a collection of set pieces-- though brilliant ones that scored multiple catchphrases.

That said, I voted for Future. I just like it better. And it had Leah Thompson.

The "Mockumentary", see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mockumentary_film

]Examples of this type of satire date back at least to the 1950s... though the term "mockumentary" is thought to have first appeared in the mid-1980s when This Is Spinal Tap director Rob Reiner used it in interviews to describe that film

I remember watching Tap for the first time , I was probably 12 or 13 and I don't think I enjoyed it all that much , but then again I wasn't in on the joke. Much more enjoyable when I found out it was a spoof.

I hope Guffman is one of them! It might be the least-known of the trilogy, but I think it's the best.

Take the Money and Run was the first, and arguably the best.

See Best in Show this weekend and then watch the Westminster Kennel Club dog show on Monday and Tuesday - you won't be able to look at the dog show with a straight face.

I voted for Tap. Sorry Lorraine, I heart you still.
