Yikes, I just flipped on the Grammy Awards. Both Katy Perry and Kanye West just displayed the worst cases of lip syncing Since Ashlee Simpson. West was barely trying.

Everything about this show has been awful tonight. Awful.

Wait, they just announced Paul McCartney with Dave Grohl.

Aaaaand they still can't get the production right. WTF?

It has been for a long time.

There's just this huge void waiting for another organization to take over as the new standard of excellence.

OE: Or whatever the Grammys are now the standard of.

Neil Diamond sounds like an impression of William Shatner singing Neil Diamond.

I don't think it was so bad, but I couldn't figure out what the problem was with the sound. Yeah, the sound sucks at the Staples Center generally, but that shouldn't be the case for a tv broadcast!

U2 - fine, don't like the new song all that much however.
New Orleans tribute with Lil' Wayne, Touissant and Dirty Dozen Brass Band - excellent.
Bo Diddley tribute - ok. Could've done without Mayer or Urban.
Justin Timberlake and Al Green - very good.
"Rap Pack" - great concept, poor execution (didn't like the song choice, or the B&W effect).
Plant and Kraus beating out Coldplay for album of the year - good.

Jonas Brothers with Stevie Wonder was abysmal , odd pairings does not equal music gold, at least not last night it didn't. I don't get what the big deal was with Dave Grohl paying drums with Paul McCartney, in fact i am sick of McCartney.

U2 were just OK , lyrics to that song are not the best.

I made it through Radiohead and then turned it off. Al Green was good, otherwise nothing memorable.

Totally agree on all these points. Showing the lyrics on the big screen didn't help. I do like the hook on that song though. And since when did Bono start wearing those Herman Munster shoes?

I don't watch the show... I never watch it. It annoys me no end.

I DID like the Plant/Krause album and i'm glad it won something.

When I was a kid first discovering music it annoyed me to no end that the Grammys virtually ignored rock and roll. Then, by the time they finally got around to acknowledging, it I was so disgusted by their choices that I would have preferred that they go back to ignoring it.

Now I simply ignore televised awards shows. They annoy me.

"I hear that Robert Plant and Alison Krauss did well at the Grammy Awards."

"That's good. They put out a nice album. I'm glad it won something."

"It actually won five somethings."

"Five awards? It was just one album."

"Which is five more than Led Zeppelin ever won."

"Kill me now."

The Emmys are even worse.
You see these shows advertise that they're nominated for like 18 awards and I'm thinking; 'how are there even 18 different categories, much less 18 categories that one show would qualify for?'
I mean, JEEZ, even the dorkiest local news programs take home at least a half-dozen Emmys each year - but by the time you get around to 'Best bubble-headed bleach blonde weather bunny' none of it means shit.

The Four Tops tribute -- Duke Fakir, Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo and Smokey Robinson -- was a highlight.
