Kc, the Braves have been kicking our ass when we field a full nine man starting unit. I don't think we should play them without a shortstop tonight.

Zvon
Sep 07 2005 07:20 PM

now Beltran bunts.
Okay, im not gonna bitch about it.
He aint hittin.
Floyd grounds out and the Mets draw 1st blood.

1-0

Zvon
Sep 07 2005 07:30 PM

Wright singles in another.
2-0 in the 1st.

nice start

Zvon
Sep 07 2005 08:04 PM

when i see Galvine have a smooth 1st inning, i figure we are gonna see a smooth pitching performance for the night.

He did let francouer get to him with the double, but no further. And francouer has been hitting everybody.

Glavine looks very good.(reads very good, i should say)
Throw those vs. Braves stats out the window.

(If i jinx him with that, I ban myself for the next 3 days)

cooby
Sep 07 2005 08:38 PM

And Cliffie gets a hit! The cheater!

Zvon
Sep 07 2005 08:42 PM

you skipped the part where furcal scored, but thats kool.

I must tho,....

Braves playin small ball too, single, sac, single and its

2-1 Mets.

Mets strand Floyd.

The Mets really should give Glav some run support....
(lol, the way i say that it sounds like they are chosing not too)

lol.

Nice catch by Beltran.

Was that Jones single fair?

Cliff hustle keeps it to a single.

lmao
Tom gets out of that jam....
Glavine is gettin the calls.
Pitchin his game.

Up to 92 pitches, but i dont really think that matters much with a pitcher like Glav who dont throw heat.

he can go nine, or at least get it to Looper (Id rather see him go 9 if there are no complications)

Zvon
Sep 07 2005 09:08 PM

1 out single for beltran.
An insurance run would be HUGE here.

seawolf17
Sep 07 2005 09:10 PM

I'll take one more insurance run here... but I'd still like a complete game (loss) from Hud for fantasy league purposes.

isnt it tuff when you have a fantasy pitcher goin against the Mets?
I have Smoltz on one a my teams.

Floyd walks.

1 & 2nd no out...Wright at the plate

i refuse to take players that would oppose the mets on my fantasy team. i have no NL east guys.

incidentally, the hdtv i won from msg network finally arrived, and it is incredible. too bad most away games are not in HD, so i havent seen a met game in hd yet.

seawolf17
Sep 07 2005 09:15 PM

Party at martin's house!

I'm usually anti-Brave and anti-Yankee on my team, but Hudson's been on my team forever, and I hated to lose him.

I tried to make this happen.
During the draft and over the season.

Between both teams i have
Reyes
Wright
Benson
Piazza(backing up Pudge Rod)
Glavine(had him, dropped him b4 the AS break, duh)

martin
Sep 07 2005 09:21 PM

wright has been the real force behing my fantasy team. he has performed way above the level of where he went in most drafts. next year i gotta think he is a top 5 NL 3b.

I gave up on roto years ago because Sept was not meant for counting
stats of opposing team's players or rooting for players on teams you're
scoreboard watching to selectively do well. It's not natural for me to give
a hoot about (Hudson's complete game, for example) and enjoy my un-
fantasy team at the same time.

Seawolf / KC sim score soars on Sunday only to dip back to sea level
on Wednesday ;-)

Valadius
Sep 07 2005 09:22 PM

The strategy of avoiding players the Mets face is SOOOO self-defeating. I used to make the same mistake, and my teams did terribly. Now, all I do is refuse to draft Yankees or Braves.

Gets him to fly out.
Good job old man

seawolf17
Sep 07 2005 09:28 PM

I had Glavine at one point, but dropped him quickly. Picked up Zambrano a few months ago, and picked up Seo after his first start back, so that's been a nice boost. Tried to get Wright, but his owner's a big Mets fan too, so that wasn't gonna happen.

Nice out, Bert.

Sep 07 2005 09:31 PM

Great effort by Glavine tonight. Hopefully Roberto can preserve a victory.
Good job of shutting down the Brave by Hernandez. He has been much better than I ever expected him to be this season.

Someone needs to explain to the Mets that it's okay, even preferrable, to score more than 2 runs in a game.

Sep 07 2005 09:32 PM

Rotblatt
Sep 07 2005 10:05 PM

You call this pain?

Oh, wait, wrong thread.

I don't get us. We keep hitting the ball pretty well and taking walks but we just can't score any damn runs.

Our pitching has been pretty close to perfect outside of Looper. I mean, outside of one clutch hit every night--and not making boneheaded, dumbass plays like trying to steal third with Wright at bat--our guys have played pretty well this series and our pitching has been ALMOST perfect. And yet we're almost certainly going to lose.

I agree about Wagner. We should absolutely sign him this offseason if he doesn't get locked up soon. Loop could be a good ROOGY, and we could use Heilman as a setup guy. Trading Loop would be fine too--we've got some decent arms we could use to replace him.

Anyone wanna bet that if this game goes much further, we see Graves?

I hope I'm wrong, but Willie had him warming up yesterday. Not a good sign.

This should be the Mets theme song...

Gloom, despair and agony on me.
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery.
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair and agony on me.

Willie's a moron.

Loop clearly didn't have it--even Willie should've seen that after he hit Andruw.

He probably should've put Heilman in there to start off the inning, but I don't think he even had Heilman warming up in the pen.

Well, it wouldn't have been a complete sweep if Willie hadn't fucked up at least one of the games in some meaningful way.

its right up there with some of my tuffer Met experiences all right.

Now 4 vs. St Loo?

Maybe it is time to roll out the fat lady now...........
I dunno.

Wasting Glavines effort thru Looper and THEN running him out there again.........
He failed at his assignment. You dont stick with him......not after how he just tossed fastballs over the heart of the plate and said 'here, tie it'.
There are other arms.

I just dont get Willies thinkin there.

I gotta step off....Ill be back.

It's over. We're gonna make up 5 games on Houston--and 4 on Florida--with 23 to play?

The entire history of the Mets against the Braves in one pitch - Castro hits a bullet that could have broken the game open- right at Rafael Fecal.

Disembowelment with a rusty, dull, butter knife is too good for Braden Looper.

EDIT: I told you I didn't think she looked like a virgin.

If the Mets rebound from this, in any way, shape, or form, I will be amazed.

This loss is easily the most painful point of this season of possiblilities.

Stick a fork in us, we're done, even though we lost I tought Takatsu showed some balls, very nearly did it.

DocTee
Sep 07 2005 11:30 PM

Fork us...

all season I told myself two things:

1.We're capable of a hot-streak (and in the tepid NL that could mean a playoff berth)

2. The early Septemeber trip to Florida, Atlanta, and St.Louis would prolly decide our fate

How nice, I thought, if points 1 and 2 would coincide...ah well, such is life (or as ZVON would say--thats baseball!)

Takatsu was a September callup, who would still be pitching for the White Sox if he were any good, and Willie brings him into TWO absolutely critical bases loaded situations? I guess he didn't take enough heat for the first one. Willie shows no confidence in a guy who pitched a one-hitter for him earlier in the year, but keeps showing confidence in a guy who keeps proving he's not up to the job. Takatsu will get Willie run out of New York if he's not careful. And maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing.

As for Looper, he just punched his one-way ticket himself. I was kind of doubtful his option would get picked up even before tonight, but now, forget it.

I am sure Looper would have found another way to blow it in the ninth, but did anyone else think that leadoff double was a foul ball? Maybe I am blind, but the replay that caused Keith to say "definately a fair ball" prompted the exact opposite reaction from me (and caused my 3 year old to blurt out "Stop yelling Daddy!"). Of course, Willie had no objection to the call.

Wow. Now I'm glad I fell asleep and missed the end, though I was pissed when I first woke up this morning.

Why did he bring looper back out?

Looper out in the tenth after a dismal 9th? Why does willie hate us so?
