Where The Hell Am I Going To Find Saddle Shoes By Sunday?

My daughter is in a local production of Bye Bye Birdie ([u:e4726e9c1a]see[/u:e4726e9c1a] the Member Promotion forum) that's taking place next month. Last night she got her costume checklist. I need to find saddle shoes for her by Sunday. They'll accept penny loafers, and I think she already has something that almost passes for that, but they would really prefer saddle shoes.

They couldn't have told us this in June, when we would have had the whole summer to shop for them?

I don't really want to order these on eBay, because they tend to run narrow and I don't want to wind up with something that she can't wear.

Ugh!

Sucker.

Put white polish on black Doc Martens until you can get your stage-mother ass to a store and buy some saddle shoes.

Low-top Keds or Chucky T's with pom-poms on the laces also work with the teen trio. High tops clash with the poodle skirts, but look OK with the rolled up jeans. Tell them I'm a gay icon and I said so.

Surely there's s site on the web where stage mothers exchange this sort of thing.

I bought white Keds for La Diva today. If they pass muster Sunday, I owe you a big one!

Scarlett, my mom played a sixteen year old in a play recently, and she had the same dilemma. She made a pair out of white sneakers and some black felt, fully capable of being turned back into white sneakers.

I don't know if I'd go saying that to a gay icon.

It's safer for me to say that than for you to say that ;)

Yes, and she looked very sweet.

Her name was Bobbi Sox

If Rosie O'Donnell can play a teenager in the Broadway revival of Grease, or Olivia Newton-John in the movie version, anyone can look like a teenager.

The costume person didn't like the idea of the white sneakers.

I ordered some saddle shoes online. Hopefully they'll fit my Diva's hard to fit foot.

They fit. La Diva is happy (at least until the next crisis).
