Castro rejected starting job?

Maybe this is old news, but this is the first time I read this:

]Castro's stock plummeted in the eyes of the Mets when he declined a chance to becoming the starter a winter ago, seemingly because he preferred being a backup and having more days off.



if that's true... *shakes head*... I don't know what to say to that if that's actually true.

I don't remember it like that or remember that being said , I do remember the job being his for the taking but he got injured again and IIRC some questions being asked about his injury .

There's probably a lot more nuance to it than that, probably health-wise, but it does support my general contention that Castro is too unreliable to be great even as a back-up.

I actually do remember that Castro story.

It was Phil Linz who told Yogi "Play me or keep me."
