Great find! Notice there were no complaints in 2006. Just like in real life.

BTW, does Casey Stengel Plaza technically exist any longer? It is (was?) an actual New York City street.

Casey Stengel Plaza has been eliminated as part of the construction. I doubt it's coming back.

There is still a street named "Shea Road" and I am hopeful that doesn't get changed. There was still a street sign or two marking such, the last time I looked.

Would have been a fun thing to have if, you know, it wasn't illegal to steal street signs.

What concert series would that first complaint have come form. The complaint was from October 2003.

Stealing a Stop Sign once got someone convicted of manslaughter, a car went right through the intersection and killed someone as a result of there no longer being a stop sign there. The car coming in the other direction didn't stop either, as they never had a stop sign to begin with.

I think you missed the sarcasm and humor.

If you didn't, I'll further point out that the sign in question is a street name sign and not a traffic control sign.

Me and my friends took a DO NOT ENTER sign from under the highway
near The Pier after seeing The Clash. Probably not the brightest thing I
ever did.

*flash ahead to CPF lunch trivia contest on 3/29*

Kong76: Steve Rogers, for all the marbles ... On what block and lot num-
ber in the Borough of Queens was Shea Stadium situated on?

SJR: Aw shit, I should know this!

caught the humor, my post was meant to relay what i thought was an unusual story that i'd once heard, not to lecture anyone on stealing street signs.
