Fantasy sports has probably changed the way many people read boxscores-- they'll check players rather than teams, and pay more attention to OOTS than previously.

I always flash on being a kid and realizing, without anyone having to tell me, that guys who hit home runs had a number in every column. So I think I look for numbers in every column.

Main game score, then rough top-to-bottom, hitters-to-pitchers. (At least in games I care about-- as a fantasy guy, I found myself much more drawn to B.J. Upton and Pena than the Rays' actual winning, at least until midsummer or so.)

My first glance I look at who had the hits and what the BA/OBP was for the day. Then I look at the hitters who didn't get hits and what other stats they picked up.

There is no one way. Depends on the circumstances.

if i don't know the score i'll consciuosly avoid it and read batter by batter in the "game log". if i know the score then theres no set order that i'll check it in
